Overview

Combine the famous Humantay Lake and the Salkantay Pass on this 2-day epic hike through the wild Andean mountains. The first day is to beat a scenic trail to beautiful Humantay Lake, drift off from a glass-toped igloo, and stargaze at the sky. The next day is to crown the pass as you hike to the foot of the imposing Salkantay Mountain at more than 4,600 meters. After the effort, tasty meals await you to round off the trip with spectacular views.

Great family challenge

Amazing views but have to say Hamantay Lake was the favorite. It was a challenging excursion for a family of New Yorkers (two adults, two 17 year olds) in relatively good shape as the altitude is tough. Service was amazing however I’d recommend bringing more than one water bottle for the hikes (you can fill up at camp). The food was overboard, enough to feed 10. Lastly, the glass igloos are amazing but there was a terrible rain storm that night (which caused a small leak) and blocked the view of the stars we were looking forward to but out of everyone’s control. Overall would highly recommend. Great adventure.

Jimy was a great guide. We were with him for the entire week and had an amazing time exploring Peru. We went to many archaeological sights, Manchu Picchu, Humantay Lake, Salkantay pass and Rainbow Mountain - it was a packed full week! Jimy is very informative and made sure that we were able to experience the most of all the excursions! THANK YOU!! Jimy was also very patient with us and made sure we were doing okay with the altitude!

Totally recommended experience with high qualified guides. We did 2 days 1 night tour to Humantay and Salkantay. We enjoyed the views and the challenge of long walks at very high altitude. Marco Centeno was our guide, he was very professional and clear with the safety instructions; also he was nice sharing all his knowledge about the Inca culture. Definitely, we will choose Salkantay Trekking if we comeback to Cuzco.
