Exciting and unique activity in Luosto, Lapland. Ride to the top of the Lampivaara fell and dig for your very own lucky Lappish gem! No active cycling background required.

Meeting points

You will meet your guide in the Amethyst Shop (address: Luostontie 4, 99555 Luosto). It is located in the centre of Luosto, diagonally opposite Lapland Hotel Luostotunturi. If you are coming from Rovaniemi by bus, you should get off at "Lapland Hotel Luostotunturi" bus stop.

Itinerary

Amethyst Mine is open from Monday to Saturday until mid April. There are two guided fatbike tours per day and during the visit you will hear the stories of geology and history in addition to the properties of the gems and the uses of amethyst. You will ride to the Amethyst mine with a powerful, electrically assisted fatbike. Bliss' guide will take you to the top of Lampivaara fell (small mountain) where you can enjoy the very top view of the area, over the Pyhä-Luosto National Park. Then you will be seated in wooden shelter, sipping warm berry beverages and listening the facts and beliefs? of this fascinating purple gem stone. After the story moment you will be heading to the digging area. A part of the open digging area is covered by roof, so amethyst searching is possible also during the winter time. Each visitor will be able to dig for their own personal lucky amethyst. In the end of the visit there is some time to drop by a small “Amethyst Shop” on site. The amethyst of the area is refined into jewellery and other productions.

Amazing ride !

The ride with fat bike in the snow was amazing ! For sure one of the best moments of our trip in Lapland. Our guide was very professional and enjoyable. He helps us to take some nice pictures and videos. I absolutely recommand !

We had a private tour my wife and I, riding the E-fat bike up to the mine. I would like to give a big kudus to our guide, Tiina (with double i). She was so profesional and we felt very safe in addtion to having lots of fun. Thanks very much Tiina (and Karin the intern that helped alot)

Great fat bike tour thanks to Kai

What a great tour we had today with Kai. Electric fat bike are awesome, we booked the 3 hours ride to the amethyst mine. Kai was an awesome guide, took the time to explain everything to us, took cool pictures for us, helped us find the best donut in Finland, etc. The path to the mine is uphill but with the « boost » option you can climb to the top without too much energy. The mine is cool as well but the fat bike is what make the tour quite unique. Would 100% recommend! Next time we try the ice climbing for beginners :) thanks a lot

We tried electric fatbikes first time ever in not so optimal weather but the trip was big success. Really beautiful track around Luosto fell. We enjoyed our guides guidance and professional company also next day in Pyhä ice climbing. Big thanks to Kai and Marika!
