A wonderful evening

A wonderful evening. When we arrived, we were given a menu in French (our native language), a booklet about the Apsara dances and a lotus flower! The food was very good, the service attentive and the dances beautiful to watch.

An insight into Khmer culture

We booked tickets for this show through our hotel. We understand that it sometimes sells out. The package includes a meal (7.30 pm to 8.30 pm) followed by an hour's performance (8.30pm to 9.30 pm). The meal was good and the gave us the opportunity to chat to our neighbours but it is the performance itself that is the real draw. We watched five dances which gave us an insight into traditional Khmer culture. Some of the dancing was immediately recognisable from the carvings on the temples that we had seen the previous day. They were elegant and expressive. The dancers take years of training to reach this level af skill and artistry. We were honoured to have been able to have this glimpse into a cultural treasure of Cambodia. The music was very strange to Western ears but we got a sense of its subtlety. We'd highly recommend this show.

This is a must do activity in Siem Reap! It was a great way to learn about the country’s culture and enjoy a fantastic evening!

We received a warm welcome to the Kanell Dinner show at 7 Makara Street in Siem Reap Cambodia. Our hosts were waiting with cool scented hand towels as we walked past welcoming dancers to our seats. A multi course dinner was served (cocktails not included) which included appetizers, soup, assorted local foods as an entree, and dessert. Live music played as we ate and a very professional set of dancers entertained us. The final set of apsara dancers was our favorite. Their precision was amazing. Their traditional dress was beautiful!At the end of the evening the host and chef came around to each table to see that we enjoyed dinner and the show. For a taste of Cambodia and its traditional dances, this is a stop worth making!
