My wife and I toured the Vung Tau City area with Maximus Travel Vietnam as part of our Celebrity Solstice cruise from Hong Kong to Singapore - Phu My Port was one of the stops.
At this port you are required to take a bus from the ship out to the port entrance to meet up with tours you have privately scheduled (i.e. tours not booked thru the cruise line), which is only 400-500 yards away. Our guide Tippy and his driver met us at the port entrance exactly as stated, and at the time we had agreed upon.
Disclosure for visitors: Be aware that my wife and I intentionally booked this tour because we had no interest in visiting Ho Chi Minh City or the area of the Cu Chi Tunnels. As nice as the Vung Tau City area is, it isn't what I would call a "must see travel destination" - it's pretty basic. Our tour guide Tippy did a great job of showing us everything of note there is to see in the Vung Tau area, but it simply can't compare to Bangkok, for example.
OK.....now that I've set the stage......
We certainly visited a number of locations in the Vung Tau area: Christ the King Statue, the lighthouse, the White Palace, the Chon Khong Monastery, the beach area, and the Upside Down House. And, we had a very nice lunch.
In summary, Tippy was a great guide and we had a fun day. I believe we saw "the greatest hits" of the Vung Tau City area.
Our thanks to Maximus Travel Vietnam for setting up a thorough tour, and providing an excellent guide and driver for us.
