Overview

Vieques Kayaks Bio Bay excursions are guided in solid and semi clear bottom kayaks through the glowing waters of Mosquito Bay, located on the island of Vieques, Puerto Rico. Mosquito Bay is the brightest Bioluminescent Bay in the world! Children age five and older are welcome to join the tour with a parent or adult, so long as a ticket is purchased for each participant. To do our tour, guests MUST BE aware that Vieques is an island apart from Puerto Rico so you will need to take a ferry from Ceiba or a plane from San Juan or Ceiba and stay overnight at the island. Our guide Lulu was friendly, fun, and full of good information. She made sure everyone could see some really cool bioluminescence in different ways. I was surprised how well we would see it even though it was almost a full moon.

I did two tours, this one was much better organized. They have an old car, but good suspension, better then the old cars of other companies. The guide was a real guide, she explained everything really well.

I definitely recommend an overcast day or a new moon so it’s dark but even if your tour lands on a brighter night, they have ways of letting you experience the bay to the fullest!

Very cool experience. The moon was out but when the clouds covered it up, you could really see the bios in the water. Our guide LuLu was very helpful and informative. Short ride to the bay and I’m glad we did this. Pictures don’t really do it justice and you need to see it in person.

We really enjoyed the experience. Seeing the bioluminescence while kayaking or sitting still and watching as fish swam by creating luminescent trails was unforgettable. Also our guide did a wonderful job leading us to an exceptional spot, explaining the biology/ecology of the bay and pointing out stars and constellations as well.
