Most tour products offer only one site called Baoding, this extention tour covers both 2 sites in Dazu-Baoding and Beishan. Beishan site is less known for it's kind of isolated, and most tour companies would cut it off for lower price, plus most local guides were not trained for this site. Beishan is a learning site fits those peace and quietness seekers, cultural historical learners. This tour also offers a chance to experience amazing country view and folk custom, going through culture+history+country view+special local cuisine within just one day, and a right guide helping around, this is absolutely a smart choice in Chongqing City. Baoding Mountain Carved Stone

We pick up our travelers in their hotels then drive to Dazu County. Enjoy a roughly 2 hours ride through the country side of Chongqing then get to Baoding site, the major part of Dazu Carvings. Dazu rock carvings is a massive ancient Buddhsim stone carving was built in Song dynasty, 800 years old. Over 10'000 statues were carved on vertical cliff, pretty much represents Chinese ancient religious art style and carving skill. Meawhile it's also functions like a Buddhism institute and holy site bring prayers and redemption to all Buddists. In 1999 Dazu Rock Carvings were inscribed on World Heritage List by UNESCO. Dazu Rock Carvings Beishan Site

The admission of this site is already covered by that conbination ticket. Beishan Rock Carvings is a secondary site of Dazu Carvings, older than Baoding site. Most tourists won't be here for it's sort of isolated. Good things is that makes Beishan a peaceful and quiet place surrounded by plantations and birds. Traveles might take a relaxed stroll among all these amazing ancient carvings and enjoy all these art stuff and fresh air. For those cultural historical learners this would be your whole world.

Then we'll take a little country hiking get on top of a small hill nearby, explore an ancient Buddhism pogada and a twin giant Buddha both over 800 year old. This site won't be patronized by all tour groups, we'll be probably the only visitors around, our travelers may enjoy fresh air and a peaceful joyful stroll there.

Requires climbing. The carvings itself are phenomenal. Steeped in history, now a World Heritage site. Our tour guide, Legend Kung was forthcoming and helpful. I am a deaf man. Legend Kung typed painstakingly for me.

Very good tour overall. Highly recommend Legend as your guide because he’s a direct, no non-sense, detailed guide who provides clear explanations of the carvings. You won’t feel rushed even though we went thru the carvings in a timely manner.

Dazu is a must see and we could not have found a better guide than Legend!

Legend is a great tour guide. He contacted us in advance of the trip to confirm pick up details and arrived punctually with the car. On the way there he explained about the history and the cultural significance of the site and also answered all our questions about the local area including the agriculture and way of life in the local villages that we passed. We visited Baodingshan in the morning and spent about 2 hours there looking at the carvings and taking photographs. Legend is very knowledgeable about the history of the carvings and explained to us who and what the carvings represent and the themes they depict. It is a truly amazing place although pretty busy. We had the choice of where to go in the afternoon and chose to go to the much quieter site of Shimenshan, after a delicious lunch of local freshwater fish. Apart from us, there were only a couple of other visitors at the second site and we found it quiet and impressive. It is a much earlier site and also includes Taoist and Confucian statues. After spending 90 minutes or so at the site we drove back to Chongqing and were dropped off back at our hotel. We could not have found a better guide for the trip to Dazu and were very happy that we booked with Legend.

It's a fantastic place to visit. Our driver, Legend, was great. On time, friendly and helpful beyond the call of duty. We didn't have to worry about anything. He talked us through the two ancient sites and knew all that was expected of him. His English was excellent. He organised an interesting lunch experience. I would go again without question.

On our second day, we had the privilege of exploring the historic Dazu Rock Carvings with Legend as our guide, and it was another unforgettable experience! His detailed explanations of the intricate carvings and their historical and cultural significance added so much depth to our visit. Legend’s passion for history and storytelling truly brought the site to life. He also introduced us to an amazing lunch, featuring Sichuan pickles with river fish soup (sauerkraut river fish soup), which was absolutely superb! It was the perfect way to immerse ourselves further in the local culture. Legend’s attentiveness, knowledge, and ability to create a memorable experience make him an outstanding guide. We are so grateful for his guidance and can’t recommend him enough for anyone visiting Dazu or beyond.
