Overview

Ideal for those interested in this atmospheric part of the city where Birminhgam originated. We learn about how it all started as a market hamlet growing to become the ‘workshop of the world’. The Peaky Blinders TV series is based on this area. The Peaky Blinders films is being produced here and if we have time we will visit the Digbeth.com studios where it is being filmed - great for a selfie! The area has public art of all descriptions to experience, as well as atmosperic canals to walk along and modern developments such as the coming of HS2. This is an amazing mixture of the bohemian along with the modernity of a city reinventing itself yet again. The tour is timed so that you can also take our Saturday afternoon tour from the Library of Birmingham if you want to make a day of it! The guide on the Digbeth tour is Jonathan Berg, local author who is currently writing the book: ‘Birmingham’s Public Art’ which is due to be published in 2023.

We walk the streets of Digbeth and discover the origins of Birmingham as well as the modern city. We see atmospheric areas that are full of public art and which will form the backdrop for the filming of the Peaky Blinders feature film.

The bome of Birds custard this is a bohemian part of the city and includes grafitti art in the most unexpected places.

thoroughly enjoyed the tour--learnt so much about Digbeth--which I have through on the Coventry Road but never really looked.We really found very useful the audio system that Jonathan uses. My husband has a hearing problem but heard every word Many thanks for a very informative morning walk. Plan to do another one of your tours in the future

Signed up to this walking tour as part of the Birmingham Heritage week. We had seen some of the art around the Custard Factory before, but this tour was extensive and covered unknown (to us) corners of Digbeth. Jonathan is a very well informed and witty guide and made this two hour trip very worthwhile, and enjoyable. It was an added bonus to visit the canal where the new 'Peaky Blinders' Stephen Knight studios, and Masterchef studio are situated. Highly recommended, as is the Birmingham Heritage week.

Jonathan is such an engaging and passionate tour guide. Our group of 20 did the Street Art and Peaky Blinders tour as a morning hen do activity. Jonathan has been really helpful throughout - everything from answering my many questions beforehand through to recommendations of restaurants, and even walking us to our lunch stop after the tour had finished. On the tour itself we saw lots of interesting and eclectic street art whilst walking around Digbeth and the canals, stopping on route to hear about the history of the area, upcoming changes, the artists and of course Peaky Blinder locations. Jonathan was really great in managing to engage our whole group and even planned in a quiz and prize for the bride to be. We had a fab time and definitely recommend!

Fabulous tour on Saturday. It was really great for our group and Jonathan led it brilliantly. It was entertaining and informative - we all loved it and plan to do other guided walks with Positively Birmingham in the future.
