Overview

Historical Significance: World War II History: Corregidor Island played a crucial role during World War II as a strategic military base in Manila Bay. It was the site of intense battles between American and Filipino forces and Japanese troops. The island is home to well-preserved military fortifications, including bunkers, gun batteries, and ruins that offer insight into the island’s wartime history. Malinta Tunnel: A major attraction, this tunnel served as a bomb-proof command center during the war. It includes a fascinating light and sound show that recounts the island’s wartime experiences. The memorial sites commemorate the harrowing Bataan Death March of 1942, where thousands of Filipino and American prisoners of war were forcibly marched by the Japanese military.

** Great Tour & Guide, Total Pain in the A$$ Getting There! **

I'll be brief as my comments would echo much of what has already been communicated in recent (2024 & 2025) reviews. Three hours from Manilla hotel, four+ on the return. Thankfully my driver, William, has a decent car and A/C! PM me if you would like his contact info as he drives tourists all around Makati and Manila. Rickety outrigger canoe ride was not the worst, but the seas were fairly calm and it only took about 20 minutes to get to the island. My tour guide was a different William, not my driver. He was fantastic as he started as a Corregidor tour guide back in the early 2000s and knew his stuff. He has some great stories from actual WWII veterans who returned in 2003 & 2004 to the island to take the tour. The place is run-down, piles of trash along the pier/harbor area, and the dogs and cats living there all look like they are on their last legs...very sad. If you are a moderate (like me) history buff, or a fanatic, I absolutely suggest you take this tour. And be sure to tip your driver and tour guide a minimum of 1K PHP.

It was a long day from Manilla but well worth it. Very well organized - the company contacted us at booking to plan for our meals, the driver picked us up as scheduled - everything went very smoothly. This company is the last legit one doing tours of Corregidor. The island is only accessible by outrigger boat from Mariveles. The government is looking for a new investor to take over the maitenance and promotion of the island. (the last one went under after Covid). We were the only two visitors on that day and as much as we loved our private tour, we feel very sad that this important place does not get the visitos it deserves. Our tour guide William, knows the island and its history inside out and was immensely valuable in explaining the events. Less to see going to Baatan (the President was coming for a commemoration a few days later and the main site was not accessible). It was an expensive day trip but understandable when you factor in 3 hours drive with pick up from Manila 30 min outrigger boat ride 3 hours bus tour on the island 2 more hours drive to Bataan

It was a long day, but very much worth it. Edward was our guide, and he was wonderful - fun to be with and knew so much about Corregidor history. It’s unfortunate that so few visitors make it to Corregidor now, and that the ferry from Manila no longer runs. But Sir Edward and his colleagues are doing their best to make sure the Filipino and American sacrifices are not forgotten! Highly recommend this tour. Side note - I tripped and cut both knees at our very first stop, and kudos to our driver Arvin who had tissues and spray alcohol in the car, and tracked down some ice for me to put on my knees that kept them from swelling.

Great trip for history buffs but the trip is long. I left my hotel at 5am and returned at 720 pm. William was my tour guide and Den was my driver. Both were great and i would recommend them. I liked Corregidor island more than Bataan so if u only visit one, go to island. You won’t be disappointed. One negative was the actual “boat” ride to the island. You are on a canoe. My butt was sore for 2 days . You are tossed around during the ride. Was part of the experience so i would syill highly recommend the tour.
