With the Yambaru region's lush foliage and tranquil surroundings, the jungle trek offers an unparalleled opportunity to immerse yourself in nature and rejuvenate with the Japanese pastime of forest bathing. Private and customisable; suitable for most ages and abilities, the trek can vary from a gentle dry path stroll to a waterfall for tea and relaxation, to a more challenging, extended walk through the river, navigating river rocks and boulders, visiting two or more waterfalls. The jungle river trek stands out for its exciting journey following a river in Yambaru. Yanbaru's meaning is field and mountain and refers to the northern and greener part of Okinawa's main Island, the region is home to a diverse range of species, many of which are endemic to the area.

Great day with Nik!

Nik was a fantastic guide and provided us with a great day. He took our requests into consideration and put together a day that made sense based on our wishes. We had a lovely river trek in the morning and visited two waterfalls. Nik thoughtfully provided light refreshments and also encouraged us to take a quick swim in the water (and even around behind the waterfall). Nike provided us with several recommendations for lunch and then we met up for kayaking in the afternoon. We were able to go up river a bit and check out the mangroves and then out to sea to a nice beach where we found loads of shells and sea glass. Nik is a relaxed professional; he is friendly, knowledgeable, and easy to spend the day with. I absolutely recommend booking an experience with him. 10/10!

Jungle waterfall trek Okinawa

Nik was excellent. Picked me up from my hotel promptly. He was professional, friendly, polite and helpful. The jungle trek was up a river through the jungle. He provided neoprene boots in my size, 13. The water seldom got above the knee It was cool and quiet, very pleasant. Nothing strenuous. Very enjoyable There was a pool at the base of the waterfall, some people probably swam in it. It was cold water in April He dropped me off at a shopping mall at my request Everything was perfect

Fabulous tour with Nik. He is informed and flexible (when we told him we wanted a vegetarian lunch, he quickly pivoted). Did the river tour and kayaking and highly recommend. Rare to find an English speaking guide in Okinawa, but Nik is the one I would call again!

Honestly myself and my partner had the best time! Nik was a 10/10 guide, very insightful and pushed us within our abilities! My partners words half way in “this is the highlight of our Japan trip” We truly had the best day and would highly recommend anyone adding this to their Okinawa itinerary - Nik can cater to all abilities so don’t be shy to give it a go!
