Visit the historic center of Kiel where you will come across buildings such as the St. Nikolai church and the Town Hall. Stroll through the oldest street in town known as the Holstenstraße. Start your tour at the Town Hall and get to see its main tower. It is located on the main square and has been the center for politics since 1911.

Continue your stroll through the Holstenstraße, which is one of the oldest pedestrian streets in Kiel. Here, you will find boutique stores, cafes and baked treats along the way.

As we continue, you will come across the Opera house, the city's major venue for opera, ballet, and orchestral performances. It was designed by architect Heinrich Seeling and built between 1905 and 1907.

St. Nikolai Church

Next, you will visit the St. Nikolai church. It is the town's oldest building, at the Alter Markt. It is dedicated to Saint Nicholas. In the 19th century, it was remodeled in the Gothic Revival style. It was later destroyed in World War II and was rebuilt with a simpler contemporary interior.

The tour guide was very knowledgeable of the area. He spoke loudly, kept a good pace, and showed us lots of history, past and present. I highly recommend this tour.
