Overview

Enjoy the snorkeling and kayaking at Las Gatas Beach, this tour includes transportation, kayaks, snorkel gear, lunch and a professional tour guide. Because of the sea wall the Las Gatas beach is a great place to swim and snorkel. It is also the right place to relax or maybe have a cold drink in a nice laid-back atmosphere. The tour will last approximately 5 hours.

Itinerary

The tour begins with pick up at your hotel in Ixtapa or Zihuatanejo, and travel to La Ropa Beach to get fitted out with a kayak and lifejacket. Paddle alongside a guide as you make the 45 minute trip to Las Gatas Beach, where you’ll pause for a cold beer or a bottle of water before starting an hour snorkel tour of the Las Gatas seawall. Everything from hermit crabs to tropical fish makes their home on the sheltered inner surface of the seawall, and you’ll also find sea urchins and sea cucumbers among the coral reef formations. Swim as far as the ‘king of kings’ statue, an underwater statue of Jesus. Return to shore for lunch on the beach, choosing from a main dish of fish filet or shrimp or chicken fajitas or cheese quesadillas. Relax on the beach for 1 hour and 45 minutes to soak up the sunshine or swim, then return to your kayak for the trip back to La Ropa Beach, this tour concludes with drop-off at your hotel at roughly 3:30 P.M.

Best snorkeling in Zihua, even better than the snorkel in Ixtapa Island

Easy kayaking from the Zihua pier to Las Gatas Beach, settling in at the restaurant and going on a 45 minutes snorkel. Good visibility at the water break with lots of colorful fish. Snorkeling to the Jesus statue as well. After snorkeling a good lunch at the beach restaurant. Easy return kayaking to La Ropa beach. Luis and his team was amazing.

You Won't Find a Better Tour Guide

We were extremely lucky to find Luis on our first day in Zihuataneho. He was friendly, knowledgeable, funny and very professional. His tours are very reasonably priced, but he doesn't cut corners. Over the course of six days, we snorkled, kayaked, did a food tour, visited Ixtapa Island, released turtles (you have to try this, it's amazing), visited a coconut farm, and did a countryside tour that gave us some real insights into how Mexican people live their daily lives as hard-working, friendly, talented people. When we return to Zihuatanejo, we can't imagine touring with anyone else other than Luis.

Luis is an amazing and friendly tour guide. He ensures safety and enjoyment as he cracks jokes to you during the whole tour. I would highly recommend Luis and we even scheduled more tours with him because he was just that excellent.

Fantastic experience! Pablo and Luis were exceptional to work with. They were both extremely knowledgeable and we were all pleased with our trip. Definitely a highlight of our trip!

Perfect tour even on a tricky day!

Luis was the perfect guide and accommodated us seamlessly on a tricky day. The weather turned on us a bit and we informed him (very late) of some dietary restrictions. He arranged for a terrific lunch and revised the transportation back. We learned a lot about the area, loved kayaking in the Bay and highly recommend this tour. Muchas gracias a Luis (and Leo!)!
