Overview

Lighthouse Excursions is a locally owned & operated Ketchikan tour company, and we pride ourselves on providing guests with an experience of Southeast Alaska through local eyes. Our Lighthouse, Totems & Eagles Excursion is a grab-bag of some of Ketchikan's top attractions, with a little something for everyone. Whether you're a lighthouse enthusiast, a history and culture buff, or love seeing wildlife in their natural environment, this tour is for you! We're passionate about where we live, and we love showing it off to guests from all over the world.

Itinerary

Ward Cove

Our boats are docked inside Ward Cove, which was once of the site of the largest pulp mill in the United States. Remnants of the old pulp mill can be seen on arrival to our dock, as well as from the water. You'll learn about the industries that once fueled Ketchikan as we leave our dock behind and head out into wilder waters.

Totem Bight State Historical Park

View the beautiful Alaska native clan house & totem poles from the water. Our guides will tell you a legend of one of the poles, and discuss Ketchikan's vibrant Alaska native cultures.

Ketchikan (Pass By)

Along the first part of our journey, you'll see many local homes dotting our shoreline, some of them even on their own island! We'll tell you about the unique lifestyle of living remote in Alaska.
Guard Island Lighthouse

View the historic Guard Island Lighthouse from the water, complete with panoramic views of the seascape beyond. Our captain will discuss it's unique architecture, and share with you some of its history.

Tongass National Forest (Pass By)

View the world's largest temperate rainforest from the water. We cruise along the wild shoreline of our remote islands, which are densely populated by Sitka spruce, Western Hemlock, Red & Yellow Cedar, and Red Alder. You'll have plenty of opportunities to observe the beauty of the forest from our tour vessel!

We loved this excursion! Views were amazing and the snacks were delicious!l We enjoyed the entire experience from beginning to end and I would definitely recommend!

Alaskan Cruise Excursion

I meant to write this review upon our return from our cruise but things got away from us! This excursion was wonderful. The team were so nice and accommodating and being on the boat was a fun experience. We saw several eagles and eagles nests and totems along the coast line. Unfortunately, we were not able to see the lighthouse due to inclement weather, but the team were concerned more so about our safety. We still have an enjoyable time and would do it again!

This was a nice cruise of the local area on a small boat. Captain McNeil did aa great job pointing out the local features - eagles, lighthouse and totems. They serve the best hot coco!

Great day on the waters of Ketchikan

Captain Jeff and crew were very skilled, knowledgeable and courteous. Captain Jeff made the commentary very interesting and related stories of growing up in Ketchikan.

Great excursion with great guide & staff

Last week we went on a Disney cruise-booked excursion that was ran by Lighthouse Excursions. We had Captain Jeff Karlson as our guide. It was a fun trip and the staff were very friendly & helpful. We were able to see some local wildlife and amazing views during our sailing excursion. They served salmon dip & refreshments during our trip. Our guide was excellent and very knowledgeable about the area as he was from Ketchikan originally. I highly recommend this excursion if you're looking to do something in Ketchikan either via local tourist or cruise ship booking.
