Overview

This is where you will become an insider on the history of this humble people's shoe that evolved into a major fashion trend. Together with master artisans you will craft your own pair of Espadrilles. Out of different combinations, you will chose the size of the base, the stitching style and the color and type of the laces, you will learn the different ways to lace them up! At the end, you will feel like a true artisan. You'll get a wearable memory of Barcelona hardly available to visitors and a really cool story to tell.

Meeting points

The artisans will receive you in the Gothic Quarter, a famous neighborhood known for artisanal products and little shops in Barcelona, at our HANDMADE THE BRAND® shop. An amazing atmosphere for a very unique experience and the most amazing story.

Itinerary

  • Handmade Barcelona

    First we will meet at the Entrance Hall where we will have a some drinks while you learn about the humble origins of this show that today is considered a luxury item in the fashion world.

  • Handmade Barcelona

    Then we will learn about the different traditional materials and we will choose the different colors, sizes and styles.

    20 minutes

  • Handmade Barcelona

    Once ready, we are going to sit down on the Workshop tables and we will make our own traditional espadrilles, and then learn the different ways to lace them up.

  • Handmade Barcelona

    To finish our lovely experience we will open a bottle of cava, dance, take pictures with our new shoes and have fun! After all of this, each guest will leave with their own creation and with a really cool story to tell to friends, something that is hardly available to the visitors, not even locals. A wearable memory of Spain.

Excellent Catalan experience

Anee was an excellent teacher! She taught us the history of espardenya (the original name for espadrilles) and the ingenuity of the Catalan people who invented these shoes. We had delicious tapas and conversation while we made our beautiful shoes. A must do experience for teens and up!

This was a super fun class. The instructors were fabulous and we ended up with really cute Espadrilles to take home as a great reminder of our trip to Barcelona. My sister and I had so much fun doing this together. It's worth the time on your trip.

Pilu and Camillo were both wonderful!!! So welcoming and very patient with their students!! The store is beautiful and it was so fun to hear the history of the Espidrilles. Highly recommend this workshop/class for something different while in Barcelona! Great location too!!! Thank you so much!
