Overview

Japan's most famous mountain, Mount Fuji, is not only known for its absolutely breathtaking beauty, it is also the highest active volcano in the country! Mount Fuji is special because the Philippine Sea Plate, which carries the Izu Peninsula, goes under both the Eurasian Plate and the North American Plate. The three plate boundaries meet almost exactly under Mount Fuji. Another fascinating thing about Mount Fuji is that it's a mountain of water! It stores an impressive 1.7 to 1.8 billion tons of water annually in its vast body. This abundant water has long been utilized for our daily lives. On this tour, our local guides will introduce you to the unique characteristics of Japan's most famous mountain, Mount Fuji. We'll explore all the wonderful things that Mount Fuji brings to the region. We'd love for you to join us if you're interested! Our guides will take you on a special e-bike tour of this unique area, showing you some hidden spots and unique insights that only we know.

Itinerary

  • Shin-Fuji Station

    You'll start at Shin-Fuji Station.

    15 minutes

  • Suzukawako Park

This park has a tsunami evacuation tower. It is 15 meters high and can accommodate up to 120 people. In the event of an earthquake, a tsunami over 10 meters high is expected to follow.

    5 minutes

  • Suzukawa no Fujizuka

During the Muromachi to Edo periods,(around the 1300s to the 1800s) the number of Shugendō practitioners who trained on Mount Fuji increased significantly. These practitioners purified their bodies and minds by bathing in the waters of the Suzukawa coast. They would then leave a sacred stone at the Fujizuka Hill and pray for a safe ascent of Mount Fuji.

    5 minutes

  • Sunayama Park

Beautiful Tagonoura Sand Dunes. This coast consists of an arc-shaped sand dune formed by the accumulation of sediment from the Fuji River on the steep slopes created by lava flows from Mount Fuji. The Tagonoura Sand Dunes, stretching approximately 22 kilometers east to west from the left bank of the Fuji River to the mouth of the Kano River, are about 200 to 800 meters wide and have an elevation of 5 to 10 meters

    10 minutes

  • Nichirenshu Ryuen Temple

The anchor and log book of the Geratic, located within the grounds of Ryenji Temple. The Geratic was a cargo ship from Jakarta that encountered Typhoon 20 in 1979 and was shipwrecked, washing ashore on Kashiwabara Beach, where two crew members lost their lives. The ship's hull remained upright on the sandy beach without tipping over, which became a major story at the time and attracted many spectators.

    5 minutes

  • Yusui Park

Mount Fuji is not only a volcano but also a mountain of water, storing a significant amount of water. The people living around Mount Fuji have utilized this water for their daily lives and the development of industries. It is said that the amount of rain and snow falling on Mount Fuji totals approximately 2.1 billion tons per year, with around 1.8 billion tons of this water being stored annually. This water seeps into the mountain, flowing underground, and eventually emerges as spring water on the surface of the foothills after several decades. The amount of groundwater stored in Mount Fuji is estimated to be enough for about two years' worth of use for the people living in Japan.
