Overview

Explore some of the many famous historical sites and adventure across the spectacular landscape. Here you’ll take a trip to the seaside town of Whitby once you arrive in the town you will have free time to explore historic town and enjoy the famous Fish and Chips. The first stop is Byland Abbey to visit the historic ruins, then onto the picture perfect village of Helmsley.

We stopped at a number of diverse sites, all worth a look, and most of which we would not have known about if we just rented a car. We saw historical sites, great nature, a ruined abbey, and the lovely seaside town of Whitby. We were fortunate to have a sunny day, and John was the best guide we could have asked for, both knowledgeable and entertaining. One of the best days of our trip.

What a great way to explore the Nth Moors and beyond! Barry was the best guide and his knowledge is second to none. He kept the day interesting and showed us the best sites. The bus was a comfortable 16 seater and the tour is excellent value for money. We have seen beautiful scenery, visited picture perfect villages, ate some great food and learnt so much about York and its history on the way.

Well worth it, book the tour!

I thoroughly enjoyed the tour of the Moors and Whitby, from York. Our guide Trevor is a wealth of knowledge. I appreciated all of the stops in the small villages and the history of the area. Trevor was able to point out wildlife and we learned about the red grouse. We were also able to stop and speak with Tom, a dry wall builder who's craft is amazing. I'm afraid will become a lost art. A favorite spot on the tour was the Byland Abbey, amazing. Whitby is a beautiful seaside town and I did have the fish n chips at Trenchers and it actually was the best fish n chips I've eaten. This tour is definitely worth the time and cost. One could take a couple of trains to get there from York, but you would not be able to experience the countryside and narratives. Book the tour.

The trip was awesome in itself but made even better by Ben’s knowledge and delivery of his insights about the landscape and locations visited. Really special day that is highly recommended and will be remembered forever.
