Overview

The Port of Brownsville Tour is a 4-hour narrated cruise from South Padre Island across the Laguna Madre Bay and traveling down the Brownsville Ship Channel. Along the way you will see our native Atlantic bottle-nose dolphins and migratory birds. You will learn about South Texas shrimping industry and their fleets, as you enjoy a taste of our local shrimp. You will hear a little history of the area, see decommissioned vessels being dismantled from the top down, oil rigs being built and repaired, and the Port where shipping vessels from around the world load and unload commodities. Upon your return you will see SpaceX launching site off in the distance. Our Captain and Crew make this an enjoyable and educational tour worth your time. Welcome aboard!

LAGUNA MADRE BAY is located between the South Texas coast and Padre Island from Corpus Christi south to South Padre Island, TX. One of the Earth’s 6 hypersaline lagoons, where the salinity is above sea water. It has one of the most unspoiled and protected Eco systems in Texas and the U.S.
Brownsville (Pass By)

BROWNSVILLE/PORT ISABEL SHRIMP BASIN is one of the largest fleets of Shrimp Boats in Texas. This location was established in 1953. KEPPEL AMFELS was established in 1990. They are in the business of construction, refurbishment, conversion and life extension and repair of a complete range of mobile drilling rigs and platforms. PORT OF BROWNSVILLE is the only deep-water port located on the U.S.-Mexico Border, with approximately 40,000 acres of land, 17 miles of waterfront, access and direct route to international bridge crossings and rail connections.

A spectacular experience

The weather took a turn for the better and we enjoyed sunshine on our 9:00 am cruise. We were accompanied by our granddaughter, her husband and my 14 year old great grandson. All five enjoyed the humor and information provided by our very knowledgeable captain of the Murphy’s Law, Patrick. His first mate, Anthony, was personable, attentive and made certain that all aboard were offered coffee, water, delicious pastries, and the shrimp cocktail midway on the trip back to port. Every time our captain saw dolphins he told us were to look and which side of the boat we could see them close up. We learned a lot about the shipping in Brownsville and the demolition of the ships at a facility in this tour. All in all a wonderful time not only for our group but to many other passengers we spoke to during our tour.

Captain Patrick was very knowledgeable about the area. The crew was very funny. Harley was very accommodating. They also supplied donuts & shrimp for snacks

The trip weather wasn't the best (kinda cool, cloudy, and foggy) but that didn't stop it from being a great trip. We even got to see quite a few dolfins (always a joy). The captain was very knowledgeable and kept us informed of what was going on around us on our trip. I learned the most from talking to Anthony & Angie however. They were not only full of information, but were also a joy to talk to. They also brought us pastures and coffee in the early part of the trip and AWESOME fresh shrimp cocktail on the later half. The weather was out of their control, but was the only thing lacking on our trip. Will do it again another time!
