Itinerary

  • Rainmaker Park

This tour begins with the pick up from the hotels by our guide and driver. After 45 minutes drive we will find a the Rainmaker park along the Rio Seco's edge. Observation platforms allow you to observe waterfalls and capture, with photographs, the rich biodiversity this unique site has to offer. Rainmaker is home to Morpho butterflies, varieties of birds, the colorful poison dart frog, and thousands of unique plant species. Depending on the time of year, visitors are also afforded sightings of incredible reptiles and other animals that make there way down to the water. At the end of the walk, a pristine waterfall pool will beckon you to enjoy a refreshing dip. Continuing up the trails, visitors will come to the Canopy Bridges. This system consists of suspension bridges, built to U.S. engineering standards. The six sections total 250 meters, spanning from platforms attached to massive hardwood trees to create the most impressive Canopy Walk in Costa Rica. The design permits minimal forest impact, giving our participants an opportunity to explore the majesty of the forest canopy from a bird's eye view. Once we finish the hike, we´ll be delighted by the wood-fired typical meal just prepared for us

Incredible bird watching

Published on Mar, 2024

We had 2 tours with Jose S. The first was to Rainmaker Reserve and it was so awesome that we booked a private tour with him a few days later to Nauyaca Waterfall. He is an avid bird watcher and has the eyes of an eagle. We saw a variety of avians, including toucans galore, hawks, a hawk-eagle, a trogon, an aracari, a tiger heron, tanagers, chachalacas as well as a hummingbird (moving and resting), among others. He also found a mother/baby sloth pair and a poison dart frog. He loves what he does and it shows. He will persist with determination until he finds interesting birds. His pictures with the aid of a scope are amazing. Highly recommend him for his professionalism and expertise.

The tour was understated and low-key, but full of surprises. And a terrific learning opportunity for my kids (11,14&15). We got to see monkeys, poison dart frog, learned about the plants and eco system of the rainforest. The biggest surprise was how many waterfalls we’d see, there are pools that you can swim and a waterfall you can jump from. It was an absolute blast and the guide tested it out first to make sure it was safe. He had better binoculars than we did and let use them. He took photos of us to remember the trip. He was so good Lots of stairs-so just be aware of how much climbing you’ll need to do. But was a terrific hike in the rainforest and the suspension bridges gave spectacular views.
