Rock a Hula was a pleasant surprise during a 10 day trip to Waikiki for Christmas and New Years. The singers, the musicians, the dancers, and especially the lead singers and their impressions, were all spectacular. We enjoyed the performance much more than we expected. The show is a fun adventure through Hawaii’s musical past, Elvis’s visits in Hawaii, and MJ’s visits. The MJ performer looks incredibly similar, having so many of the mannerisms and dance moves down. Personally I really enjoyed watching the performer as Elvis. I’ve watched a lot of YouTube videos on Elvis, and how he would work a crowd, flirt with the ladies, and stay locked with the band. This guy did it all! He came out in the crowd, had the ladies laughing and smooching while he passed around his scarfs… it was such an entertaining throwback. As well, after the show, everyone hangs around and takes pictures if you’d like. So much fun! I really recommend attending Rock a Hula. You will be entertained and enjoy a very well done show. The sound in the room is top notch too - loud, but not piercing. Everything was clear and audible and the band is great! Seriously - you will have fun. Go! Do some brush up on your Elvis videos and then enjoy how great the performer pulls off the act. We didn’t have the dinner prior to the show, but it looked great when we walked in before showtime. — For those complaining about the price, everything in Hawaii, especially in Waikiki, is overpriced. HELLO it’s a tourist trap in paradise. Stop complaining, go to this show, enjoy the nostalgia and the history of Hawaiian music, and have a great time. If you can afford to be in Honolulu, your life is okay. I promise you will enjoy this :)
