Highly recommend Adventures Unlimited. Catherine was super helpful and arranged everything I needed at quite short notice. I trekked the Singlilia ridge from Rimbick to Gurtum staying in remote homestays and passing through villages, forest and taking in the views from the top! My guide Abhishek took the upmost care of me as I travelled solo. He is very knowledgeable and friendly and brought much laughter and fun to the trip. The people we stayed with were so welcoming and the food and the fires made up for the slightly cloudy and cold February weather. The rhododendrons and magnolias were just coming out in some places. A very rich, heart warming adventure and many thanks to everyone who helped make it happen for me.

“Completely taken care of” is how I would describe my experience with Adventures Unlimited. This was mine and my fiancées first trip together in another country, and our first time visiting India, and from the moment the plane landed Catherine and the team were making sure that everything was going smoothly with our trip. We had consistent check ins to ensure that we were as stress-free as possible. We were picked up by a hired driver from the Bagdogra airport and brought to our hotel in Darjeeling. Catherine gave us a list of recommended hotels as well to make the decision making process easier. Prior to arrival we were given a full checklist of recommended gear (with options to rent much of it) and a full itinerary of what to expect on the trek making it easy for us to be as prepared as possible. Adventures Unlimited extended their hospitality to us outside of the trek by giving us recommendations and being there to answer any of our questions regarding the rest of our time in Darjeeling. The recommended hotel was fantastic and in a great location. We also asked about local restaurants and shops and got directed to amazing places. The trek itself was awesome! Our guide, Tenzi, was born and raised in the area and is very knowledgeable about the villages, mountains, plants, and especially the birds we encountered. He also specializes in Red Panda photography so he shared with us some beautiful images that he has taken and kept his eyes peeled the whole time so that we didn’t miss out on any wildlife. He is super fun and we really enjoyed his company for the 6 day trek. Tenzi made us feel very familiar and ensured that we had the best time possible even though our trek was during the off season. Such a friendly and funny person and we are so glad that we got to spend so much time with and learn so much from him. We are also decently active, however, we did zero training to prepare for this trek. This was well within our capabilities, but it helped that Tenzi remained confident in our abilities despite some of our struggles on the uphill sections. He made sure we had the best views, good coffee, great tea, and that we were smiling the whole time. HIGHLY recommend this experience!

We had a great time on the track and we were well looked after from start to finish. The trek affords great views and is well within the capabilities of fit regular hikers. The communication was excellent; Cath and Gatty were really friendly and helpful throughout. As well as the track they helped us organise a tour of Sikkim and their local knowledge, attention to detail and support were exemplary. Highly recommended.

I did the Singalila Ridge Trek with Adventures Unlimited in October 2024 and can highly recommend it to anyone. Although I booked at short notice, the manager took a lot of time in advance to give me detailed advice. With her experience, she skillfully evaluated the weather and my wishes. Abhishek was a super fun, helpful and competent tour guide. He spared no effort to make sure everyone had a great experience. He provided us with excellent food and often got up at sunrise to check if the mountain view was clear. When one participant got altitude sickness, he managed to take the best possible care of him and still guarantee that the rest of the group could continue the tour.

Travelling with five friends on our big India trip we were looking forward to Darjeeling as the highlight. I had booked the toy train from Siliguri to Darjeeling myself in advance and also arranged with Catherine in advance to do a trek to Tongolu, 700 meters above Darjeeling. We picked Catherine because of the previous reviews and weren’t disappointed. The previous couple of weeks we heard had been dogged with clouds, but we were fortunate to get clear blue skies for most of the day with fabulous views of Kangchenjunga, the world’s third highest mountain. Actually, our trip had started to fall apart a bit in a couple of days before in Siliguri when we found the toy train I’d booked was cancelled and I was left at 6 am in the morning wondering how I could get the five of us up to Darjeeling to continue our trip. I emailed Catherine on the off chance she might be able to help and within half an hour she had replied offering me a beautiful taxi service for the five of us that followed the route of the railway track - almost as good as taking the train. She also booked us on a day train trip from Darjeeling to Ghum the next day pulled by a steam engine-Somehow obtaining the last five seats on the train. The trek Catherine organised the following day was just as memorable with an excellent guide and well coordinated throughout. Catherine even lent us a hiking pole for one of our party who felt he needed one. Highly recommended travel agency – you’re only likely to come to Darjeeling once so make sure you book with Catherine .
