I went to Skydive Sydney-Newcastle for my milestone birthday early July and had the most amazing experience, jumping out of a plane at 15,000Â ft in the air.
My instructor Joe (tandem jump) was really friendly and the staff on the ground were great as well. The lady at the front desk was very welcoming and helpful. The Covid19 protocol has also been followed and you get a mask to wear on the plane and there are lots of hand sanitizers on the ground at various places around their facility. However, due to Covid, there was unfortunately no shuttle available. Thus, we had to rent a car in Sydney but it allowed us to explore the foreshore of Newcastle (Queens Wharf Hotel for lunch with a waterfront view) and its beaches (Nobbys Lighthouse to Newcastle Memorial Walk) in the afternoon/evening, so it turned out even better.

I’m a big fan of adrenaline and extreme sport. It was my second time as I have already done it about a decade ago with my dad for another significant birthday in a rural area in North America (possibly 9,000 ft). Needless to say, the view I had in Newcastle was nowhere near comparable to the jump I did in the past. The view was really breathtaking & I still can’t get over the view and the feeling I experienced!
I highly recommend this place. I always wanted to jump on the Australian coast and I hesitated for a moment this year between doing it in Wollongong or Newcastle. I'm really glad I did it in Newcastle because I really believe that Lake Macquarie and all the coves/bays/lakes really improve the already amazing ocean view. I didn’t know where to look, trying to get all the views at once! The color of the water was also incredible. I knew the view was going to be great because I had watched the videos and seen photos during my research, but that didn't even do it justice. It was a thousand times better in person. And it was a cloudy winter day. So I can only imagine what it looks like on a sunny summer day! I’ll probably have to come back to find out!

Stop thinking about it, do it! You won’t regret it!

P-S : Very happy also to have taken the video (handicam) & photos package (+$179), because it is really worth it with this view! I hesitated because I had already jumped in the past, but … once again, it had nothing to do with the view in Newcastle. I'm so happy to have video and photos to relive the whole experience over and over again!
Plus, if you book your jump directly on their Skydive Australia website, you get a $20 voucher on merchandise. I got a t-shirt for $15 (regular price $35) and my friend got his tank top/singlet for free as it was on sale for $20.

Do it.
