Itinerary

Snowshoes on! Let’s explore the wilderness of Lapland with this complete educational snowshoeing tour adapted to every level! As you will snowshoe into the silent snowy forests, your outdoor guide will explain to you the basics of how to survive in such difficult conditions. You will first orientate yourself with a map and a compass to find your own way and reach the shores of an immense frozen lake. On the way, your guide will share with you some of its knowledge about the surrounding nature: how to use some trees or mushrooms to make a fire, for medicinal purposes, etc. It will soon be time to set your little camp! Let’s make your own fire to warm you up. And because one cannot survive without food, you will also drill your own hole in the frozen lake and try ice-fishing! If you catch a fish, your guide will show you how to grill it over the fire. Don’t worry if you are unlucky: a delicious Finnish barbecue snack will be prepared by your guide. This will also offer you a convivial moment around the fire and a great opportunity for your guide to answer your questions about Lapland! At the end of the tour, you should be ready to become the next Arctic adventurer of Rovaniemi!

My favourite trip

This was a great trip. It was unusually cold (even for Finland) but our guide, Leon, made sure we were warm and happy the whole time. We snow shoed down through a beautiful forest to a frozen lake where there was a tipi. A fire was lit and we had a warming drink and snack before trying our hand at ice fishing. Leon was very knowledgeable and flipped between french and English with ease as he explained how to light a fire and we cooked sausages. Then a walk back through the forest in our snow shoes. Loved it.

Our guide Gabriel turned this activity into a real experience. He shared his survival tips with us in French and English with simple vocabulary, which made it very accessible to us. With a compass and a map, you will have to find your way through the forest. Hopefully, you'll be lucky enough to catch a fish then!

Adventurous day in a snowing forest

We’ve enjoyed a really wonderful snowshoeing experience! Professional snowshoes and waterproof boots were provided, we walked about 20-25 minutes to a tent with fire camp nearby the lake. The guide taught us skills of using woods to make camp fire, it’s a bit challenging to cut the side of wood into feather shape but we found this really interesting. The snow view of the river is also amazing, it feels so nice to enjoy hot chocolate with sausages and see this view under a clear sky!

A great adventure

We went on this adventure as a family of 4, with two boys aged 7 and 9. It was the highlight of our holiday. There was a total of 6 persons in our group plus the guide. Our guide Timo did a great job teaching us many things about survival and orientation. We all learnt how to start a fire with the tool, while the other couple also caught a fish. So many things are included in this adventure that you get a full taste of the arctic life. We recommend it.
