We travel frequently and have had the opportunity to do and see some amazing things around the world and this Star Gazing experience was among the most unique and memorable. There is SO MUCH TO LIKE:
-Tony’s expertise explaining and interpretation of the stars and constellations
-the very cool, once-in-a-lifetime chance to look at the sky through military grade night vision goggles
-the warm fuzzy hooded blanket-like ponchos they provide that are like a big warm hug (even if you brought tons of layers)
-the wonderful follow-up and directions to the spot in Joshua Tree national park
-the friendly and helpful assistant “cuz”
-the small group (9 people max)
-the great gravity chairs so you can look up while laying back
-the amazing souvenir photo they take and send you for free
What it’s like-this is a lot more than an ordinary star tour. Yes they have big telescopes and show you cool cigar galaxies, planets and moons, but in addition Tony weaves together stories and mythology from global cultures while pointing out features in the sky. Part graduate astronomy class, part philosophy part geography-listening and learning was truly mesmerizing.
If you have the chance to do this, don’t hesitate you will NOT regret the experience. The only negative is that the time just flew by-we could have listened to the stories for another hour or two beyond the 90 minute schedule.
