What an amazing experience! We had a fantastic time, thanks to our brilliant skipper and his first mate. The wild swimming with Dolphins was amazing. One thing to understand, these are wild animals, they swim very fast and they will not hang around once you are in the water! Best view of them is from the boat where we got to see a pod of them playing. We headed off quickly from the first dolphin swim as a sperm whale and her calf had been spotted out at sea. We had received a very good safety briefing before we got on the boat and were told there is no swimming with the whales. Whales come to the surface to breathe, if they see humans in the water they will dive quickly which puts them under stress as they won't have taken enough oxygen. We found these beautiful creatures out in the deep sea. There were two other boats from obviously not as reputable companies who had allowed their guests in the water. How sad to see them swimming to chase the whales, total lack of respect for these creatures and the whales did indeed keep diving down to get away from them. We moved away from that group and discovered a second mother and calf. Our skipper stopped our engine and we observed them for a good 10 minutes they were just swimming along. Then one of those other boats came along and they dropped a swimmer close to the whales, they both dived below, mumma gave us a flash of her tail as she went! We were all sad that they had been forced below due to the ignorance of humans! We then headed back closer to shore, a pod of playful spinner dolphins were spotted so more swimming and viewing and then a quick snorkeling stop before heading back. This was the most magical experience and I would whole heartedly recommend, but only to those who can respect these beautiful creatures, if you are ignorant and self absorbed and just want.to be able to say you were in the sea with whales, please do us all a favour and stay on the shore!
