Overview

Watch Japan’s unique and traditional sport Sumo with a knowledgeable tour guide. If you are in Tokyo in January, March or September, you should not miss it!(the tournaments take place 6 times a year; 3 times in Tokyo, once in Osaka, Nagoya and Fukuoka respectively. Each tournament lasts for 15 days. ) Meet your English speaking guide at the JR Ryogoku station and walk to the stadium(2mins walk). Your guide will talk you through what is Sumo, its history and rules before entering the stadium and give you additional tips in between the bouts. Feel the intense, serious atmosphere of the tournament while you are free to grab some beer, Yakitori(skewers), etc.. at the vendor inside the stadium and eat/drink at your seat. *Food and drinks are not included in this tour.

  • Infants and small children can ride in a pram or stroller
  • Public transportation options are available nearby
  • Infants are required to sit on an adult’s lap
  • Suitable for all physical fitness levels
  • You will get chair seat on 2nd floor.(On 1st floor, there are only box seats) Your guide will hand out the ticket on the tour date
  • This is a group tour. We will leave on time, so please make sure to be there on time!
  • Large luggage cannot be brought into the seat.
  • No changes or refunds of any kind can be made less than 24 hours prior to the tour start time.
  • Children 3 years old and under can enter for free, however they will not have their own seat and will need to sit on your lap. Children 4 years and up must have their own tickets.
  • There is a place in the stadium you can store baby strollers, however they cannot be brought up to the seats.

Great experience in Tokyo

An Experience (and Guide) to Remember

As first timers to Japan we were bummed we weren’t able to purchase tickets directly when they went on sale. I took a chance going through a third-party and it turns out the experience was probably even better than going on our own. We knew a little about sumo and the wrestlers, but our guide was a total fan. Her knowledge, props and excitement made the event even better. Communication before the event was great as well. Highly recommend!

We had a great time going to the sumo tournament. I really appreciated being able to learn more about the sport and follow things more closely during the day’s matches. Our tour guide, who referred to himself as the “tall guy,” made it was a terrific experience. I’d definitely recommend checking this out if you’re visiting Japan during the tournament.

My wife and I decided to see sumo wresting. Our tour guide was Oku and he was great. He had so much enthusiasm and he made the event wonderful. He explained what was going on and we were fascinated. Ask for Oku if you go on this sumo wrestling tour.
