Overview

I have been a food local guide for 6 years and a well established food writter & blogger in Kenya, I will help you discover the local life & take you to safe places where you would not ordinary venture to as a tourist. We will source our local fresh produce and discover the wonders of the local market. Afterwards we will create a local/traditional meal from my tribe rom scratch which we will enjoy over chitchat.

Meeting points

Kindly ask the Uber driver to drop you at "Magunas, Kangemi" at Kangemi Market along Waiyaki Way". The location pin is accurate. I will be waiting for you at the front main entrance/car park so that we can begin the experience. 30 minutes wait time.

Itinerary

This activity involves 3 amazing Kenyan Experiences? 1. Local famers Market Tour 2. Matatu Experience (Public Transport experience) 3. Cooking class (Kenyan Cuisine) at my home. Our day will begin at the meeting point, after which we will take a visit to the farmers market and do some grocery shopping.. (You can totally skip this if you are not feeling up to it) You will get to interact with the locals and see the fresh produce used to make our dish which are fresh from the farm. During the experience we will make a complete Kenyan meal. A main dish and a side dish with veggies. The session lasts 4-4.5 hrs. After the experience guests can carry the foods prepared. Be prepared to have fun and get your hands dirty :). If you would like to watch that`s fine too. If, however, you would to turn up and enjoy the home cooked meal without the hustle of going to the market, you are also welcomed. NB/ Price includes grocery shopping. NB/ Vegetarian/Pescatrian/Gluten free options are available.

I had a great time! The market tour was fascinating and the Matatu ride added to the adventure. In the kitchen, Nimoh created a warm atmosphere. She explained everything clearly and made the whole experience very fun. Highly recommend for anyone who loves food and culture!

Had an amazing day exploring Nairobi with Nimoh. 1000% recommend. Nimoh was very responsive and catered the day to exactly my preferences, sending an itinerary the day before. I didn’t want to do the cooking class part so we put together the best day visiting the food market, exploring CBD (as someone who never hires guides, I’m so glad I had a guide), buying fabric and having clothes made from a huge local fabric market. Ended with a traditional Kenya lunch. We rode the bus all day. So many local experiences and places I absolutely would not have had without Nimoh. Highly highly recommend, made my stay in Nairobi.

I have traveled around the world and done a lot of cooking classes, but I have to say that this was the best one i've ever had. Nimoh's energy and dedication to giving us a great experience was unmatched. From taking us on the coolest matatu (do not miss this experience) to experiencing buying food from the local market and welcoming us into her home. This gave us a true local experience and I say don't think twice. Just book it!

This was an amazing experience you can't get anywhere else! We shopped in a local market. Then, we rode the public bus, with the music bladting...haha. Then she showed us how to cook a traditional Kenya meal and we sat down together to eat. Our host told us alot of information about Keynan culture. I really can't give this experience enough praise!! You will be thrilled!

So not miss this wonderful cultural experience!

Nimoh is a fantastic and engaging host!! We selected the market, city bus experience and dinner! We met at the the market, took a wonderfully painted city bus to the host’s home and prepared dinner while we learned so much about Kenya. This experience is a must to learn more about traditions, family, and cooking the most wonderful food! We enjoyed ourselves immensely!
