Walk the streets of the city to the Grand-Bé peninsula during an unusual 2-hour visit, relive the summer of 1944, witness to the liberation followed by the destruction of Saint-Malo. This experience offers an insight into pre-war Saint-Malo and reveals the consequences of the occupation on the Saint-Malo city while discovering the resilience of a Saint-Malo city determined to rebuild itself. Guided by the personal memories of Joseph Guthrie, this unique experience offers a poignant historical perspective. You will visit Saint Malo intra-murros passing in particular at Porte Saint-Vincent, Place Chateaubriand, Rue du Pelicot, Northern Ramparts, Porte des Champs-Vauverts and its tobrouk up to the Passage de la Lancette.

Engaging Historical Tour

Very engaging and interesting tour with lots of historical details. It's a nice walk around St. Malo Old Town, with many stops along significant historical spots. The tour guide is very passionate and knowledgeable about the history of St. Malo, especially military details, during the second world war and shows many pictures, historical documents as well as army equipment. The tour is in French, and it's two hours of walking over cobblestone streets, stairs and even the beach which requires some physical fitness, so be aware of that before booking! If you do speak French and especially if you are interested in military history, I highly recommend this tour.
