Itinerary
Lviv City Hall
The current building of the Lviv city hall was built in the years 1827-1835. The project was designed by architects Alois Wondraszka, Jerzy Glogowski, Joseph Markl, and Franz Trescher. In 1849-1851, after a fire, a reconstruction was carried out under a project by Johann Salzmann. The massive building is situated at the center of the Rynok square; it has four symmetrical Neo-Classicist façades. Its tower, which is square in plan, belongs to the most noticeable accents of Lviv’s architectural panorama and is one of the visual symbols of the city. The style of the building can be considered a typical one for the Austrian administration buildings of the 1830-1840s. The city hall is the administrative center of the city, the Lviv City Council is located there.

Rynok Square
Rynok Square is a central square of the city of Lviv, Ukraine. According to archaeological data, the square was planned in the second half of the 13th century, during the reign of Prince Leo I of Galicia. However, there is a long tradition of later dating the emergence of the square, associated with the activities of the Polish king Casimir III the Great.
Around the square, there are 44 tenement houses, which represent several architectural styles, from Renaissance to Modernism. In the four corners, there are fountains—wells from 1793, probably designed by Hartman Witwer. The sculptures represent four Greek mythological figures: Neptune, Diana, Amphitrite and Adonis. In front of the Town Hall, there was a pillory. In 1998 the Market Place, together with the historic city center of Lviv, was recognised as a UNESCO world heritage site.
30 minutes
Dormition Church, Korniakt Tower
The Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Lviv (commonly known as the Dormition church, or historically as the Wallachian Church) is a Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Lviv, located in the Old Town, in Renaissance style. The current building is built in place of a ruined church in the period 1591-1629 by Paulo Romanus, Wojciech Kapinos and Amvrosiy Prykhylny; the bell tower was erected in the years 1571-1578 by Peter Barbon.
10 minutes
Dominican Cathedral
In the central part of a legendary city L’viv on Muzeina Square one of the most famous and beautiful churches of the city is located. It is Dominican Church. Its foundations were laid in the instance of Hungarian Princess Costanzia, who was going to marry Ukrainian Prince Lev Danylovych. She was a Catholic and the Dominicans came to support her faith.
10 minutes
Armenian street
Located in the very heart of modern Lviv, Virmenska (also known as Armenian) street is full of life yet has retained much of its old time character. In addition to quaint cafes, restaurants and pubs, it houses the Armenian church (hence the alternate name) and Art Gallery Dzyga, a popular hangout of the local bohemian folk adding much atmosphere to the place.
15 minutes
Church of the Jesuits
The Jesuit Church in Lviv is dedicated to Sts. Peter and Paul. When constructed in the 1610 and 1620s, it was one of the largest churches in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Sebastian Lachmius, a monk, based his design for the church on that of Il Gesu in Rome. His designs were modified by a professional Italian architect, Jacopo Briano, in 1618–1621.
A curious addition to the original design was the 80-meter clocktower on the south side which used to be the tallest building in Galicia. The upper part of this early 18th-century tower was demolished in 1830.
In 1740, the vaults were frescoed by the Eckstein brothers from Brno. The paintings were greatly injured during the Soviet period, when the church was used as a storage facility and suffered relative neglect.
15 minutes
Lviv National Opera
Lviv Opera - is an opera house located in Lviv, Ukraine's largest western city and one of its historic cultural centers. Originally built on former marshland of the submerged Poltva River, the Lviv Opera now sits at the end of Freedom Avenue, the tree-lined centerpiece of Lviv's historic Old City, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the city's Halych district.
According to the inscription in the theater lobby, the building was constructed between 1897 and 1900, and has remained standing throughout several changes in history. Originally built when Lviv was the capital of the autonomous province of Galicia in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, the Lviv Opera first stood at the end of Archduke Karl Ludwig Avenue, was later known as the Grand Theatre of the Second Polish Republic, and during the time of Soviet rule, entering patrons would pass by a towering statue of Vladimir Lenin. For four decades, the theater was known as the Ivan Franko Lviv State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet, having been renamed in 1956 after the city's famous poet and political activist on the centenary of his birth. In 2000, the Lviv Opera celebrated its own centennial with another renaming, this time after one of the city's native daughters, Solomiya Krushelnytska, a renowned soprano of the early 20th century.
