Overview

The reef offers sanctuary to over 200 dolphins (Spinner, humpback and bottle-nosed), which can be seen as single individuals or mostly in pods of 2-25 individuals breaking above the waves. You get the opportunity to snorkel and marvel at the rich marine life where corals, exotic fish and sea plants are protected. You get to enjoy refreshments (Fruits, Beers, Soda) and water on board as you sail and after snorkeling On low tides, there is a sandbank that pops where you can relax and sunbathe You get the chance to visit the Slave Caves and see where the slaves were stored during the old slave trading days before shipment to the Zanzibar slave market.

Pick up from Mombasa (North coast) is between 5.30 am to 6.00 am with extra charge of 15 - 20 USD per person depending on group size. Itinerary

The day begins with pickup from a respective hotel at around 7.30am. The drive from Diani to Shimoni is about an hour. As you drive to the historical small fishing village of Shimoni, you get the opportunity to see rural villages, sugar cane plantations, tall palm trees and lush greenery. On arrival, you will meet our guide, who will lead you to the Shimoni Piers to board our traditional Swahili Dhow for a cruise to Kisite Marine Park. (Soft drinks, water, beer and fruits are served on board). As you cruise through the Ocean, you have a 90% chance of spotting the Dolphins. You then snorkel and marvel at the rich marine life where corals, exotic fish and sea plants are. Also during LOW TIDES, there is a sandbank that pops out where you can relax and sunbathe. After Snorkeling and swimming, you sail to the mainland where you are served lunch at our open restaraunt with a very beautiful beach front view. After lunch you can decide to rest for about 15 mins before you are taken to the slave caves where slaves were stored during the old slave trade.(This is a 15-20 min tour) Departure from Shimoni is around 3.30pm or sometimes later than that. You are then dropped off at your hotel.

Wonderful Wasini Experience

We took a trip to the Island and crossed over with a boat to the mainland. Seeing the dolphins was an absolutely amazing experience. The locals we encountered were very friendly as we took a walk along the trails where we saw some nice historical views. We also had a local swahili lunch that entailed a variety of seafood which was the highlight of the day!

It is a dolphin watching place and snokling.

A wasini Island day tour from Diani is unmissable for marine life enthusiasts and snokling lovers. It's also the only place you can go for dolphin tour in Diani, near the kisite mpunguni marine park. Lunch at the nearby wasini Island allow you to explore cuisine and learn more about the community ways of living.

I had such a wonderful day! If you're considering booking this tour, I highly recommend that you go for it! Everyone involved with Coral Spirit was fantastic. Jay and the other team members were extremely knowledgeable and helpful. They pointed out different fish in the water, ensured we had enough to drink, and made sure we were comfortable throughout the day. The homemade lunch was amazing, and the entire experience was perfectly planned. The waters are stunning, the boat ride was enjoyable, and everyone was very friendly. I cannot recommend this tour highly enough! The next time I'm in Diani, I will definitely book another Coral Spirit tour— the quality is truly unmatched! Thanks so much for a great day!

This trip was the heart of my Diani beach experience. My day trip to Wasini Island was run by a family (Juma MBaruk Reje) We went snorkeling. They were excellent caring guides! It was my first time snorkeling and it was amazing. The trip is well worth your day. The food was outstanding. I felt emotional when it was over and wanted to do it again.

picked up on time and driven to the boat by a friendly and informative team. The boat had a crew of 3, 2 of which were brothers. They took us to the snorkelling and on the way we saw many dolphins who swam right up the side of the boat. We then were taken snorkelling and you could tell the staff really valued our safety, taking a life bouy out with him just in case. We saw a wide array of marine life, such as octopus, eels, starfish, and many other aquatic animals. After snorkelling we were given fresh fruit snd drinks. We then stopped for a traditional Kenyan meal which was delicious. After we stopped at the old slave caves. The tour did not last long but was informative, and when they pump the rest of the cave out I can imagine it’ll be a great tour. Taken back to our accommodation and we all agreed that it was a great day. Would recommend for sure.
