The place lies over a hill and it is surrounded by a wall that the King Sancho the Strong ordered to build. There are still preserved five different entries to access the city. Their names are: Mercadal, Carnicerías (Butchers), Páganos, San Juan and Santa Engracia. Additionally, the streets and surroundings of Laguardia still keep a medieval atmosphere that give the city an ancient touch. Regarding the economy, its main strength is the wine industry. Indeed, the wine is elaborated and processed in numerous wineries.

Great tour with the best guide. Our guide Aida has taken us in 2 wineries. Only 4 of us. We have also visited Laguardia village and have tasted several local products. I loved the squid with its own ink. Loved the tour!

Absolutely amazing wines with some of the best, most informative, and funniest tour guides I’ve ever had. I also could not believe the surrounding views during all parts of this tour. The region they took us through is simply breathtaking. Every time we went to a new location, my jaw dropped. This is well worth your time and money.

Winery tour in La Rioja

We were picked up at our hotel in Logroño and driven to a wonderful small winery near Laguardia. They offered several tastes of wine with snacks as well as a tour of the facility. We then went into Laguardia for a wonderful lunch. The next stop was another small winery with rare expensive wine. We tasted 3 options with snacks and they were very good. We also had a tour of the facility with explanations of how they do things, sometimes a little different than a typical winery. It was a very enjoyable day.

Wonderful guide. Beautiful country. Very entertaining locations and wine was fantastic. We had a wonderful lunch with very well prepared food. Definitely worth it.
