Overview

The Indigenous owned Yellow Water Cruises takes you on a discovery tour through the world famous Yellow Water Billabong. Operating year round, sunrise to sunset, the cruise winds its way through distinct ecosystems of Yellow Water Billabong and tributaries of the South Alligator River.

Meeting points

Please meet at the Cooinda Lodge Bus Stop 20 minutes prior to cruise departure. The bus stop is located opposite reception and is well sign posted.

Itinerary

  • Yellow Water Cruises

    Cruise Kakadu's most famous wetland and see the billabong come alive. Located at the end of the Jim Jim Creek, Yellow Water is part of the South Alligator River system. This river system is unique as it is included in its entirity within a UNESCO World Heritage listed National Park. Cruise along with a knowledgeable guide who will provide commentary about the area and the various species of animals that call this waterway home.

    Kakadu National Park is a must do with amazing scenery and wildlife within. Get your camera out for the beautiful colours of this vast land as you cruise along the river.

Interesting and educational

Our guide was amazing. I learnt so much about the region and history. I’d love to do this again in the dry season to see the changes. Sights were amazing!

I strongly recommend this cruise. It's effectively an Australian safari, and unlike anything that my wife and I have ever done before. In addition, the tour guide (who was new to being a tour guide) had a fascinating perspective due to his First Nations heritage. He was excellent and added a lot to our experience.

Early morning body tour. Lots of birds, salties. Relatively cool weather. Bugs weren't bad. Beautiful scenery. Our guide, Dennis, was knowledgeable and funny!

Early morning cruise featured a tremendous number of birds, fish, dozens of crocodile SD and one wallaby. Our guide was fun and knowledge. We had a great time!

Just Wonderous. Yellow Water Cruise A Must!

If I could give this 10 stars, I would. This experience was almost spiritual at times. I did not realise I was so interested in our native wildlife and the incredible Kakadu landscape. We enjoyed our a.m. tour so much we booked the p.m tour . It did not disappoint. Our guide on this tour was so laid back, but so passionate about 'Country' and all wildlife that lives within and upon it . Crocodiles galore. Magnificent birdlife, dingos feeding on carcass near the waters edge, wallabies, and buffalo in the distance. The stories of both the past and present had us spellbound. Thank you, thank you, thank you Yellow Water Cruise team.
