I've been a journalist for 11 years and am a 3rd generation citizen here. I spend 24 years of my life living in Corbus’s public social housing, studied in Piere’s designed schools & went to Maxwell Fry’s designed offices – so I live, breathe, and exist as Chandigarh. Later, I utilized my journalism skills to dig into how the government utilizes public funds. I hope you love stories because that’s how I got so many to share! Personally, I’ve travelled to several countries and a backpacked my way across India in my 20’s a lot. I love to cook, & my cat thinks I’m quite funny. I live a non-traditional lifestyle. My guests range from architects, urban planners, Diplomats, foreign dignitaries, students, senior citizens, kids, couples or hippies – I cater to all. This is a CUSTOM tour – we will plan the day’s itinerary according to your personal interests! Caring for the individual needs of my guests is a responsibility I cherish.

Chandigarh - architecture and context

Rusty is a little eccentric, very well-informed and knowledgeable person that really helped me understand Chandigarh's origins, which cannot be understood through the lens of architecture alone, but needs also the overall town planning and social context which underpin 'new towns' from Edinburgh to Brasilia. A very pleasant day.

Rusty was an excellent tour guide! I was traveling alone as a solo female and I went to Chandigarh because I was mostly interested in architecture and history. Rusty was able to customize the tour to what I was most interested. In particular we had access to spots in Capitol Complex that regular tourists usually miss out on, such as Secretariat, the High Court, and the iconic Open Hand Monument. I definitely won't be able to visit them by myself in the same way. We had lunch and coffe in amazing cafés and restaurants and we have visited many different spots in Chandigarh: architecturally designed museum, Rock Garden, Memorial Park and University buildings, Neelam Theatre, Rose Garden, etc.. Normally I would visit the city alone, but I've chosen to visit it with Rusty because i wanted a special architectural experience. I'm so glad of y chose and I highly recommend to visit Chandigarh with him.

Rusty is a knowledgeable, kind, organized and fun guide. I was able to see so much more of the city than I ever would on my own (or on any other tour). Rusty will happily adjust the tour to your interests and desired pace saving time for coffee, juice or treat stops along the way! Truly the best way for me to have experienced this architectural pilgrimage.

We were a group of 18 (7 adults and 11 kids), and Rusty did a fantastic job of engaging all ages. We covered the rock gardens, lake and the capital complex. He was very informative about the city and the sites. He also made excellent suggestions for local food. I would highly recommend him as a guide. As a bonus (included) service, he had a friend that took amazing pictures of our tour.
