Overview

The first and only forty-three foot long Luxury Ice Castle existing in Alaska. The only fishing experience where you can see under the surface of the ice as you are fishing. You are able to watch the fish interact with your bait on a forty inch television above you.

Meeting points

Once you reach the boat ramp at Birch Lake, drive down the plowed snow trail onto the frozen lake. You will see a white fish house with a blue flashing strobe light. You will see my large logo on the end of the fish house. That's how you will know you are at the correct location.

End point

This activity ends back at the meeting point.

Itinerary

During the activity you will be taught the fundamentals of ice fishing. I will guide you along each step of the process. You will get to catch and keep one fish (to prepare to eat), and you must release the others. As you are fishing in the fish house, you will have a 4k high definition underwater view of all that lies beneath the surface. There will be three underwater cameras and three televisions for guest viewing. I will provide all materials needed to fish. No equipment necessary. I will also provide coffee, tea, hot chocolate, apple cider and reindeer sausage on a bun as a snack during the activity. Once everyone has caught their one fish, I will prepare the fish to be cooked along with jasmine rice. If you prefer to not have your fish cooked you are more than welcome to take it home with you.

Crazy fun in the ice!

I can’t begin to describe how awesome this experience was. As a local Northern Lights Guide I can say that this was one of the most fun I’ve had ice fishing. Jim’s set up is SWEET! No only will you be warm but you’ll be entertained and fed as well. I highly recommend this to anyone even those with kids.

Jim is an excellent teacher and guide for the ice fishing experience. The setup provides an opportunity for one to experience ice fishing in a comfortable environment. This is great if you’re new to ice fishing or if you are a seasoned ice fisher. It is especially great for families. I am local but found this to be relaxing and was able to watch the fish behaviors and have a better understanding of what I am feeling on my line while fishing. Jim is also an excellent cook and will cook your fish and serve it to you while you are still fishing. What a treat. I will definitely treat myself to this trip at least once a year.

Really awesome setup. Being able to watch your lines in the water and see all the fish swimming around, playing with the bait added so much more to the experience!

Mike was the guide and was able to help two novice fishermen. Didn’t catch as many fish as we would have liked but the fishing was worthwhile. Was able to fish inside the warm cabin and outside on the lake. I recommend this tour.

Highlight of our Trip to Alaska

After a rather disappointing introduction to ice fishing with another service, we decided to try it again with Jim on the last day of our trip. From the moment we pulled up to the Ice Castle, we knew we had made the right choice. There were no other people fishing on the lake we were at. We made our way into the warm and cozy Ice Castle and quickly became acquainted with Jim, we quickly fell into conversation and he talked us through every step of the way as he set us up and showed us the pinnacle of ice fishing in Alaska. His underwater camera system helps even the most inexperienced fisherman/fisherwoman be able to see how the fish act and react, tremendously improving the ability of an angler. It is almost addicting to watch the fish on the huge flat screens while sipping coffee and talking amongst each other. We had booked a 9-1 fishing trip, but extended it til 4 since we were having so much fun and enjoying Jim's company the whole way through. He did a phenomenal job preparing and cooking the Artic Char and Rainbow trout we caught, along with reindeer sausage. Jim was very knowledgeable about the fishery and took pride in his tackle and operation, with rod and reel setups for targeting different fish and suiting different anglers. We will definitely be coming back to fish with Jim in the future!
