The palace serves as a striking backdrop to the magnificent possessions owned by the family. • Fort Qaitbey

Sultan Qaitbey built this picturesque fortress during the 14th century to defend Alexandria from the advances of the Ottoman Empire. His efforts were in vain since the Ottomans took control of Egypt in 1512, but the fortress has remained, strategically located on a thin arm of land that extends out into Alexandria’s harbor from the corniche. The fortress’ current form is not the original. It was heavily damaged during the British bombardment of Alexandria during a nationalist uprising against British hegemony in 1882 and rebuilt around the turn of the 20th century.

A good way to see Alexandria from Cairo

Published on Aug, 2024

My family’s tour of Alexandria was one that I would definitely recommend. I liked that the tour allowed me to choose the four tourist attractions that I wanted to go to. Furthermore, the guide, Dina, was kind, knowledgeable and accommodating. In short, she was everything you would want in a guide. She did all that she could to make sure that my family would enjoy the tour, including helping to entertain my 3-month old daughter. Lastly, our driver offered a clean and comfortable ride to and from Cairo. He made sure to stop as often as my family would like and give us as much time as we needed at each stop.

The sights of Alexandria will always be a highlight of my holiday in Egypt.

Our driver and guide were right on time. They were also kind, fun and knowledgeable. We learned so much new information and the seafood lunch was fantastic. We learned about Egyptian history and culture from our guide and left with a friendship.

Must book when you go to Egypt

This was such an amazing experience. Our tour guide Giada was extremely nice and had so much knowledge of the sites to share. It was a great experience from start to finish. Our driver also was very helpful and this tour took out any worry someone might have traveling to a new country. Thank you for everything.
