Overview

Escape Marrakech and hit some of the best ski and snowboard slopes in Africa, with a guided day tour in the Atlas mountains. Only an hour away from Marrakech, you will arrive at the beautiful Oukaïmeden resort at 10,744.75 ft (3,275m) above sea level, you can expect amazing panoramic views and reliable snow coverage from December until late March.

Itinerary

Oukaimeden

Depart Marrakech at 8 AM from your accommodation and enjoy the beautiful journey that will take approximately one and a half hour through the Atlas mountains to get to the Oukaimden ski village. Your guide will offer local knowledge and opportunities to stop along the way. On arrival, your tour guide will arrange your ski passes which are included in the tour and help arrange all the necessary ski or snowboard equipment if needed (not included). Then get set to hit the slopes. After a break for lunch (not included) you are free to hit the slopes again for the rest of the afternoon. The return to Marrakech will depart around 4 PM.

A couple of old New York skiers with a crazy bucket list

Our bucket list was to ski every continent and Africa was the last one we needed. Although there has not been a lot of snow and the ski resort lifts were not running, Marrakach Surf and Snow made arrangements with local guides to get us to the top of the mountain by mule and we made 2 runs. Our guide Raid was knowledgeable and friendly and we felt completely safe and secure on this crazy adventure.

Our bucket list was to ski all continents and Africa was the last one we needed. Our driver Raid was knowledgeable, friendly and spoke English very well. He/Marrakech Surf & Snow made arrangements with local guides to bring us to the top of the mountain (north facing) on mules so that we could take 2 runs. The local guides were wonderful. This season there is not much snow so the resort lifts were not operating. Mules was the only way to accomplish our goal. We felt safe and secure with both the local guides and our driver Raid. The Atlas mountains are beautiful and the Berber culture interesting and welcoming. We would highly recommend these folks.

Great trip to the mountains with Karim!

We heard about his trip from Karim after we went on a surf trip (highly recommend) with him to Essaouira. The drive through the valleys was really beautiful and we stopped at some nice spots to take pictures. We didn’t go skiing but Karim took us for a walk to see the breathtaking view of the Atlas Mountains and the highest peak of North Africa. It was really cool to see this part of Morocco.

While in Marrakech, taking a trip with Karim is a MUST!!!

My daughter and I were recently in Morocco for 2 weeks and experienced many tours/guides and by far Karim was the best. We did the high Atlas mountain skiing for the day with him. I can't say enough good things about Karim as a guide. But, here are a few key words; prompt, kind, informative, patient, good humored, fun, knowledgeable, and ready to please. Ski season is about over, but you should definitely go surfing or check out the cable wakeboarding park with Karim. You won't be disappointed...

We did this on Christmas day and there has been no snow. However, we wanted a day out of the city so we went up to the mountains anyway and had the most lovely time with our tour guide. He spent the day chatting with us about life in Morocco and we had a fantastic lunch and sat in the sunshine.
