Batu Caves is a limestone hill that has a series of caves and cave temples in Gombak, Selangor. The limestone forming Batu Caves is said to be around 400 million years old. Some of the cave entrances were used as shelters by the indigenous Temuan people (a tribe of Orang Asli). The cave is one of the most popular Hindu shrines outside India, and is dedicated to Lord Murugan. It is the focal point of the Hindu festival of Thaipusam in Malaysia. Batu Caves in short also referred as 10th Caves or Hill for Lord Murugan as there are six important holy shrines in India and four more in Malaysia. The three others in Malaysia are Kallumalai Temple in Ipoh, Tanneermalai Temple in Penang and Sannasimalai Temple in Malacca. Note: - Keeping your eyes open to be aware of the monkeys. The trip was very interesting and allowed is to get to know Malaysian culture closer. Rajan was a fantastic guide, who share a lot of information with us and was taking care of us throughout. It’s best to visit Batu Caves and the waterfalls on a week day, as they get really busy on weekends, but we still managed to have a lovely experience.
Great day trip

This was a great trip with a very informative driver who choose a restaurant to suit our dietary requirements. Any females going should wear clothing suitable for visiting a temple, (Batu Caves). Shoulders and knees covered or they will sell you a shawl but only take cash. Alot of steps to climb up so take some water with you. The Pewter factory was very interesting. Also the batik being hand drawn and painted. The hot springs were not as expected and rather dirty. The waterfall is beautiful but facilities are very primitive A varried and worth while trip
Batu Cave and waterfall

Our guide, Rayhan, was very knowledgeable and patient with us whether it was the climb up to Batu Cave or spending some extra time picking out a pewter tea caddy. Took us to local food court spot where the choices were extensive and food delicious. Never felt rushed and learned a lot about not only the sites, but Malaysia in general during our tour. Highly recommended.
Fun and informative day trip

The hot springs were ok. Lots of locals using them to bathe and soak. The waterfalls were fun. A short hike on paved path, no changing facilities at the actual falls so be in your swimsuit if you plan to swim. Lots of curious monkeys and slippery rocks so take your time. Batu cave temple was colorful and beautiful. My aunt learned the hard way that the monkeys will snatch food from you lol. The batik factory was impressive. The artists are incredibly talented and let us try our hand at painting. Lots of great souvenirs from art, shirts, scarves, ties, wraps and dresses. Our guide Zul and driver Rajin were great!

Was very lucky to have this guided tour on my own. My guide, Raj, was just perfect. Honest, polite, chatty, attentive and a good sense of humour. The waterfalls and springs were lovely to see. If I was in more of an "immersive" mood, I would've dipped in but the weather was poor. The caves were an incredible spectacle to see, well worth the journey. A few hidden surprises of the fabric shop and metallic factory were a great addition to the tour, also. Lunch was very tasty, always good to try new food in new ways. Dropped off with no hassle, even when the traffic started to get busy. Highly recommend!
