Our Canyoning tours will take you to explore magnificent rivers and waterfalls using different techniques (such as jumps, rappel, and slides). Undoubtedly, the most thrilling and fun way to experience the Azorean nature and some of its most impressive natural “monuments” and untouched landscapes!

Itinerary

This excursion takes place in Parque Natural da Ribeira dos Caldeirões, one of the most extraordinary places in the northeastern part of the island of São Miguel (+/- 45 minute drive away from the city of Ponta Delgada). Upon arrival, we will proceed with the distribution of your personal equipment and then set off on short walk of ~ 15min to our first stop where we will have our first safety briefing. We will then continue on a short scramble uphill where we will then stop for our second safety briefing, where we will show you how to rappel before continuing onwards and upwards for another ~10min to the start of the canyon where the fun will begin! After reaching the top of the canyon you will start the second part of your adventure. You can expect several jumps (between 2 and 7 meters in height), all optional, a natural slide and some abseils (between 5 and 15m in height). We will walk back along our initial path to the starting point. NOTE: – The exact itinerary including jumps, abseils and other techniques will depend on local conditions and seasons. The terrain, landscape and flow of the stream normally change throughout the year.

Amazing way to start the day!

My partner and I have never done anything like this and we both thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The route is amazing & very scenic, the guides are friendly & make you feel safe during your journey explaining and helping you at every turn! There is no pressure to take part in something you don’t feel comfortable doing and plenty of support to get you through to the end. Ricardo & Teresa were brilliant throughout and got myself through it with a laugh and a joke at every step. We will definitely be booking again (albeit it may only be my partner who does it this time!)

We had never tried canyoning before and this was a nice introduction with jumps, sliding, rappelling and some swimming. A fun and fresh experience in the nature and we would definitely do it again. Our guides were very much engaged and helpful :)

We did had a tour with Diogo and it was the highlight of our trip. He was an amazing guide. The park as incredibly beautiful to walk around, but you go on the canyoning trip you get to walk up the river and see a totally different area. The repelling and jumps were exhilarating. If you are in the Azores make sure you book this tour!
