A One Day adventure with our Joy Elephant Sanctuary Observation, Doi Inthanon & Hiking Program. Enjoy scenic rural Chiang Mai as you're picked up and journey through picturesque landscapes. At the sanctuary, change into traditional Karen clothing for hands-on activities, preparing food for the elephants while learning about their history and behavior. Observe the elephants in the jungle while they roam freely. Sip herbal tea while you see the elephants enjoying their cool time before crafting a Thai cultural souvenir. Then you will enjoy your lunch before leaving the Joy Elephant Sanctuary heading towards Doi Inthanon.

Doi Inthanon

Doi Inthanon, the highest mountain in Thailand at 2,565 meters, is located in Chiang Mai Province. Named after King Inthawichayanon, the area boasts rich biodiversity, including over 400 bird species, and features diverse ecosystems like rainforests and pine forests. The Pha Dok Siew Nature Trail, located on the Doi Inthanon mountain range, exemplifies "eco-cultural" tourism that focuses on the sustainable preservation of nature and local culture. The trail is rich with various plant species and wildlife, such as the White-Handed Gibbon (also known as Lar Gibbon), and features the Pha Dok Siew waterfall as its highlight. The trail is approximately 2.6 kilometers long and takes about 1.5-2 hours to walk, with a moderate difficulty level. One of the most beautiful and educacional experiences I have ever had. They truly care for the elephants and the guides/drivers were very professional. Such a full experience and great communication

Great waterfalls

More than I could have expected - our guide, Go, took us across the viewpoints of inthanon and we got a traditional lunch and some coffee as well as learned how to make smelling balm. It was clear they cared for the elephants and we got not one but two meals that day, Once at the park and once with the elephants. The waterfalls along the way and at the sanctuary were beautiful too.

A great day of elephants and trekking

Had a great day! Started off by being picked up at my hotel and then driven to an ethical elephant sanctuary. The drive there was long, but there was a comfort stop halfway through. Once we reached the sanctuary, we had to switch to a truck to make it through the jungle and then we walked a bit further into the jungle to the sanctuary. We had a little safety briefing and then got to feed the elephants bananas and pumpkin. It was fun! After that, we followed the elephants as they walked through the jungle. This was followed by a swim near a waterfall, with the elephants watching on (they did not join us in the water). After the elephant sanctuary, we were driven to the highest point in Thailand and then we drove to see the twin pagodas. Lastly, we drove to the national park and went on a 2-mile hike through the jungle where we saw several huge spiders and a green viper! Oh, and several AMAZING waterfalls! It was a great tour. :)

We had a beautiful day, we were lucky that we booked the Tour alone except the part in the elephant sanctury was together with other people. Due to that we could decide on our own how long we would like to take Videos and Photos on each place. Our guide Ko was polite, friendly and really patient with us. It was a great experience! Hint: bring enough clothes with you warm/cold/beach clothes. The weather went from cloudy, to foggy/cold (highest point of Thailand) to warm/sunny (during the hike) you could swim in the river near the elephants therefore you May need swimwear.

It was amazing. The highlight of tour is the guide that everyone mentions Ippon. Such a gentle good soul. Feeding and spending time with the elephants was amazing. We had a great time. Just a word of advice that this is not suitable for people with reduced mobility.
