This 4.5 hour Daufuskie Island trip provides a glimpse into a fascinating chapter of Lowcountry history on the undeveloped side of the island. Learn the rich history of the Native Americans, European settlers, the cotton trade, and the Gullah culture. Itinerary

  • Daufuskie Island

    It begins with a boat ride from Shelter Cove Marina to the back side of Daufuskie Island. The ride is an important part of the tour! Along the way we will stop for dolphins and other wildlife, plus view and discuss the sites on Daufuskie and the neighboring islands that are best seen from the water. Once on Daufuskie, you'll get on golf carts and take a tour of the historic, undeveloped side of the island. We stop at all of the significant historic sites and artisan shops of Daufuskie.

The trip was an experience in history, adventure, and information. Captain Pete is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the culture and traditions of the island and it’s people.

Should bring a heavy coat in winter as there is quite a long trip by open boat. Either bring along a lunch or snacks as there was not time allotted for a lunch stop.

Go to the bathroom before you depart . Eat before you depart. Wear warm clothing. Don’t expect to see glamorous housing.

Pete our tour guide was very knowledgeable of entire area and in most all cases answered questions we had before we even ask . Would recommend this If you have not already done this tour lots of history here an enjoyable 4 hours on the water and island.

Captain Pete was so knowledgeable about the history of the Gullah people and knew many of the locals personally. One thing to keep in mind: This is an open air boat. Dress appropriately.
