Overview

A special ONE day a year tour in which we go deep into San Miguel's Day of the Dead traditions and culture. We'll meet at the main square in downtown San Miguel and go from there to visit the different altars, decorated streets and cemeteries, all while learning about the significance and importance of Day of the Dead in Mexican culture and how it is expressed specifically in San Miguel de Allende. THIS TOUR MAY VARY DEPENDING ON THE GOVERNMENT RESTRICTIONS.

Meeting points

Departure Point: We will meet you in front of the statue (Fray Juan de San Miguel) that is on the corner on the right hand side of the main church in downtown San Miguel. We will send you a photo of it after confirmation.

    special ONE day a year tour in which we go deep into San Miguel's Day of the Dead traditions and culture. We'll meet at the main square in downtown San Miguel and go from there to visit: • The different altars erected around town. • Decorated streets • Local Cemeteries which are dressed in colorful flowers (two of them) During our walk we will learn about the significance and importance of Day of the Dead in Mexican culture and how it is expressed specifically in San Miguel de Allende. The tour will last about 2 hours and will give you a local insight into this beautiful and colorful Mexican tradition.

Leo was a great guide opening SMA up to visitors and showing us how the traditions and people celebrate. Not everything was open due to the administration but he made it enjoyable.

Very fun walking tour of the area around the center of SMA, finishing at an ideal spot along the catrina parade route. Got to see a very cool altar and learn about Dia de los Muertos. Alex was a great guide and managed our group well through all the chaos!

Our guide was very well versed in the history of Dia de los muertos. Unfortunately we did not get to go into the convent to see the graveyard. We did get to see and understand the ritual and all the different meanings of the altars
