Overview

The experience is for you who would like to discover Florence with a brush in your hand see the city through new eyes sketching, painting and discover what Florence looks like through an artists lens. Being in Florence means surrounded by art, if you are a creative soul and would like to be creative yourself or you kids would like to create their own masterpieces this course is for you. The course is also for you who would like to get you sketchbook started, or simply dust off old drawing/painting skills. In case of rain or bad weather we'll be on a covered terrace with a fantastic view. The course is for all levels, both beginners and more experienced. My way of teaching is very individual and we'll start from your level and step by step progress from there. We are mostly sitting on stairs or standing during the class so please let me know in advance if you have special needs and I would schedule the class so that we'll go to a place where we can site down during the session.

Meeting points

We'll meet in Piazza del Duomo number 10 blue (10 written in blue not red) and from there go to the location which is only a short walk away.

Itinerary

This is an outdoor activity and inspired by the beauty of Florence we'll work to get it down on paper. During the class we'll get in touch with both drawing and watercolor. I will be next to you during the whole session with useful tips on composition, perspective, light and shade, color mixing, trying out different techniques and materials and working step by step to create your own "masterpieces". Florence is often sunny but don't worry if you have booked a rainy day. In case of rain or bad weather the class will take place on a covered terrace with a fantastic view to the Dome of Florence. It is difficult to give an exact address of where the activity will take place as it very much depends of the weather. The activity is wheelchair friendly/accessible but it's very important to inform me in advance, in order to prepare the session to full fill all needs. Our daughters had a private lesson with Betty. She was patient and helpful, provided lots of positive, individual attention, and gave really useful examples of technique. In three hours, our daughters gained technical skills they will use forever, along with a personal watercolor of Florence they will always treasure. Her passion for the medium truly inspired our daughters and they've been pestering us ever since the lesson to buy them a watercolor set so they can continue to paint. It was one of our daughters' favorite parts of our trip to Florence. Betty also provided us a very thoughtful and comprehensive list of restaurants and places to visit in Florence.
