Overview

This excursion includes an itinerary in stages to let you know and appreciate places of particular natural value within the reserve of the Etna Park up to an altitude of about 2000 meters. Thanks to the experience of our staff, on board of 4x4 vehicles you will live an interesting and at the same time fun experience. Starting from the lava flows that threatened entire villages, we will visit the extinct craters and the viewpoint of the majestic Valle del Bove. We will descend into the meanders of the volcano visiting a lava flow cave (lava tube) equipped with a helmet and speleologist lights. The tour will end with a tasting of Sicilian specialties. IMPORTANT NOTES: If you have a car we recommend that you reach our meeting point in Trecastagni in MontataGrande. LANGUAGE: During the high season there may be overbooking of reservations for one language. In this case, a tour leader speaking the selected language will be guaranteed in the scheduled stages of the tour.

Meeting points

At our Meeting point we offer free parking, bathrooms, shoe and jacket rental, rural experiences, coffee & more. If you DO NOT HAVE A VEHICLE you can ask our secretariat for a transfer from Catania and its province (from € 15 / person) or Taormina-Giardini Naxos (from € 30 / person, min.3 pax).

Itinerary

  • Mount Etna

    The tour winds through the visit of different attractions (at least 4): the ancient and recent lava flows; the Valle del Bove; the visit of a volcanic cave with lights and helmets; walk on the side craters at about 2000 meters.

  • Valle Del Bove

    Panoramic stop in the spectacular Valle del Bove, a natural amphitheater created by the collapse of the ancient eruptive centers of Etna. This stage may not be carried out starting from Taormina. Alternatively, you can reach the ski resort of Piano Provenzana destroyed by the 2002 eruption.

    Visit this or a similar cave with lights and speleologist helmet to understand the fascinating phenomenon of the formation of lava tubes. The guides will assist you in this fascinating natural place to descend into the meanders of the volcano.

    Tasting all'agricoltour MontataGrande with tasting of Etna and Sicilian specialties (wine, liqueurs, oil, honey from Zafferana, sweet creams, salty pesto, pistachio from Bronte, etc). This stage takes place with certainty only from the meeting points of Catania or MontataGrande, subject to availability of the location.

We went to the lava...

We went to the lava tunnels and it was fun. Very knowledgeable tour guides. Learned a lot about how the city was formed thousands of years ago. We learned that certain precautions must be taken when the volcano is erupting. Great views and took lots of pictures.

we hit a heavy snow storm, but our guide did everything possible to make this a wonderful experience and also very educational regarding the history of Mt Etna and its eruptions.

Definitely recommend this trip to anyone who wants to know more about Sicily, volcanos or Etna. Our guide is very knowledgeable of the geological history of the island and pointed out details on site for us to understand the formation of the landscape.

We had a great experience visiting Mount Etna. They are super friendly, and that tour was a nice length of time. Two brothers started this and we had wine tasting afterward that was included, which was a nice surprise and very fun

We did the private 4x4 tour with Luca !!!! He was absolutely amazing so smart so kind to my older parents and we really had an amazing day ! From mt Etna to the caves to the yummy lunch at the farm we really had an amazing day ! I cannot recommend this tour enough! Luca god bless you and your family ! Thanks again ! Also bought a tons of products honey , pesto , pistachio, I mean they have so many great products for gifts and for ourselves !
