Along the Danube, you can explore three amazing forts, which is precisely the focus of our tour. One of Europe biggest low-land fortresses and last Serbian capital before Ottoman invasion - Smederevo, one of the first artillery fortresses in Europe, built by Ottoman Sultan Bayazit II - Ram, and guardian of Danube and Iron Gates - Golubac Fortress which was never conquered by any army will leave you speachless. With our local guides, you will also have a chance to learn about Serbian tradition, local food and specialities and taste Serbia national drink - Rakija Focusing on history, our tour will really make you to feel medieval vibes at least for a while.   • Smederevo Fortress

    Smederevo Fortress is one of biggest Europe low-land fortresses. It was built in 1427 and it was last capital of Serbian medival kingdom before Ottoman invasion in mid of 15th century. With numerous towers it represents how defensive fortifications was built just perfectly.

  • Ram Fortress

    Built by Ottoman Sultan Bayazeed II on hill on the right bank of Danube it was strategically very important fortress and one of first artillery fortresses in Europe.

  • Golubac Fortress

    Well known as Guardian of Danube, Golubac fortress guards entrance of Iron Gates gorge. Never conquered by any army it was just changing it masters by political agreements. You will learn all of the stories behind this magnificent structure.

The medieval fortresses in this tour are both scenic and historic. The tour guide delivered an (intense) lesson on Serbian history, focusing on the medieval period and Ottoman occupation, for those who may be interested!

Everything was as planned. Marko is a very skilled, educated, and knowledgeable guide for us. He was friendly throughout the tour, provided us with information about the history of each fortress. The lunch was also great! We hope to have another trip guided by him in the future.

Private 3 Danube Fortresses Tour - Great Tour Guide

We did a private tour of the 3 Danube Fortresses. Our tour guide Angela was absolutely wonderful. She definitely knows her history & her way through Serbia because she drove us to all the places. The first 2 fortresses are just ruins & nothing special about them but without Angela’s insights & expertise, we would have been lost. The 3rd fortress i.e. Golubac for which we wish had more time was the highlight of the tour. Overall, it was Angela’s company & her knowledge which made the tour very memorable.
