You will get the chance to be face to face with his royal mummy in his tomb in the Valley of the Kings
15 minutes
Tomb of Ramses III
The tomb of Ramesses III, designated as KV 11, is a complex system in the Valley of the Kings. It has been known since antiquity, the wonderful decorations include colourful painted sunken reliefs featuring the traditional ritual texts (Litany of Ra, Book of Gates etc) and Ramses before the gods. Unusual here are the secular scenes, in the small side rooms of the entrance corridor, showing foreign tributes, such as highly detailed pottery imported from the Aegean, the royal armoury, boats and, in the last of these side chambers, the blind harpists that gave the tomb one of its alternative names: ‘Tomb of the Harpers’
15 minutes
Tomb of Merenptah
In Egyptian mythology, Ptah is the demiurge of Memphis, god of craftsmen and architects. In the or simply in its falcon form of the new deity, began to be placed in tombs to accompany and protect the dead on their journey to the West of Luxor .Tomb 8, which is located in the Valley of the Kings, was the burial place of the Pharaoh Merneptah and is the model of royal tombs Merneptah was a son of Ramesses II and Queen Isis-Nofret.the tomb was discovered by Howard Carter in 1903. Of coursethere is a material decrease in the number of lateral rooms, and a dramatic increase in the height of the corridors and rooms. He did away with the jogged axis used since the time of Horemheb and instead built the entire tomb on a single axis. Also, for the first time, the entrance was made considerably wider than earlier tombs .
15 minutes
Tomb of Ramses IV
The tomb of Ramses IV (KV 2) in the Valley of the Kings is rather different than most other tombs built here. This tomb is by far the most spectacular of the other tombs you will see. The hieroglyphics on the wall depict scenes from the Litany of Ra, Book of the Dead, Book of Caverns, the Book of the Heavens, Book of Amduat, and the Book of the Night. The blue and white colors on the walls inside the burial chamber are very vibrant and you can see the king's sarcophagus made of rose-colored granite. There is also a beautiful scene of goddess Nut on the ceiling, where she is depicted swallowing the sun, and it traveling through her stomach, for Nut to give birth to it. The tomb has so much colour and detail even the ceiling above the sarcophagi with its godde

Full Day Private Family Tour - Luxor - Valley of the Kings / Temples of Karnak
Published on Aug, 2024
We booked our day trip to Luxor with Nabq Tours after our original travel agent couldn't resolve the issue of EgyptAir cancelling all flights between Sharm El-Sheikh and Luxor. The airline we used in the end was Petroleum Services Company, which is a basic airline service and propellor engine plane, but we didn't care as we just wanted to do the trip and the flight is so short.
We met our amazing guide, Khaled El Saady, at Luxor Airport. He is very knowledgeable of the historical sites available to visit in Luxor as he used to work as an Egyptologists at the Valley of the Kings as an archaeologist. He had thought out the day well and did his best to keep our children cool in the summer sun.
Our day started at the Valley of the Kings and we went into 4 tombs, Tutankamun's tomb you have to pay extra for. The guards in the tombs do try to get money off you for taking photos and offering you pieces of card to use as a fan. You can ignore them. Our youngest son, who is 6 had the chance to steer the electric buggy that was our transport into the valley. You have to pay to use the toilet (5le per visit) and there isn't any toilet paper, so bring your own.
Then we went to an alabaster art workshop, they did an entertaining demo of how they make the items from the stone, etc. The items are expensive in the shop but you can haggle and there is no obligation to buy. It keeps you out of the sun for a bit and there is a toilet with toilet paper you can use in there for free.
Then we went to the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut. There are a few steps to climb to get to the temple, so bring flat shoes and plenty of water as there is no shade until you reach the temple. Again the guards inside try to take photos of you for money but you don't have to pay them. Bring your own drinks as the cafe is expensive.
Next we saw the Colossi of Memnon. Afterwards we went to lunch in a buffet style restaurant. This suited our children who are 6, 10 and 13. Our guide said we could take our own drinks in but the waiters do make you feel like you can't drink them inside and you have to buy from them. You can use the toilet in here for free.
Afterwards we had a felucca boat ride down the Nile for 1 hour and 30 minutes. Again it keeps you out of the sun for a while. The boat we had was operated by 4 boys with no adult supervision; children over here have to grow up quickly. They were confident at what they were doing. The youngest one said he was 10 but he was the same height as my 6 year old. The boys worked really hard for their tips: dancing, arm wrestling our sons, playing drums, letting our sons open the sail and steer the boat, etc.
The final part of the day was at the Temples of Karnak. I wish we had visited at a cooler time of year. I would have liked to stay longer but the heat was too much even though it's such an impressive place.
Because we had time left before needing to go back to the airport we had a horse and cart ride around modern Luxor, which was great for my children to see how normal people live out there and see their culture.
Khaled was able to answer every question we had and brought us fruit and drinks.
Good experience but I hate sellers

This tour was great. Guide was also very good, helpful and nice. He explained us so many things.
Only negative comment I need to put is, guides taking us to shops. I hate that. We were taken to a gift shop without our consent. Since i was ill, I refused to be there. Guides should ask visitors whether they like to buy things. Visitors like us should not be taken to shops
Well organized tour
