A lot of temples were built in the Ayutthaya period over 600-700 years but they were burned down together with the fall of Ayutthaya Kingdom in 1767. About 99% of the temples in Ayutthaya were destroyed but the beauty of Thai architecture still remains and waits for you to explore. Ayutthaya is also famous for its boat noodles and Thai cotton candy (Roti Saimai). Don’t miss them!

  • Wat Yai Chai Mongkol

    Wat Yai Chai Mong Khon is very famous throughout the world as it’s recognized as the World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1991 and it’s very important because it’s the location of 1 of the 8 great stupas of the country which is the highest stupa in Ayutthaya Island with the height of 62.10 meters.

  • Wat Phanan Choeng Worawihan

    Wat Phanan Choeng was built in 1324, 26 years before the founding of Ayutthaya capital in 1350. The large image hall houses the seated Buddha image of 19 meters in height and 20 meters in width at the lap span. The buddha was built from bricks and plaster covered with black lacquer and gold. The Buddha is regarded as a guardian for mariners and was restored many times until the fall of Ayuttha kingdom. The temple and the Buddha were destroyed by fire.

    Wat Mahathat temple was built in the late 14C. This temple is very famous because the great holy relics of Lord Buddha was once enshrined in the central prang tower and it’s the location of the sand stone buddha head embedded in the tree’s root which is the highlight of Ayutthaya province.

    Wat Phra Sri Sanphet is world class famous because it is listed as the world heritage sites recognized by the UNESCO in 1991 and it was the most important temple in the golden era of Ayutthaya kingdom as it was the royal chapel of the palace used for the religious functions of Ayutthaya Kings and it is considered as architectural prototype of the Emerald Buddha temple in Bangkok

A fun trip to Ayutthaya with Nok!

Amazing day! Picked up promptly by Nok, my lovely guide for the day then off to Ayutthaya - wow, what a fantastic place! We visited 4 temples, very interesting and Nok explained how old they are and how they used to look. She’s an excellent guide! Highly recommended.

I recently took a guided tour of Ayutthaya, Thailand, and it was an unforgettable experience. My guide was Nok (FB page is Guide Nok Minoz) and her very safe driver, Noom. Nok was incredibly knowledgeable about the rich history of the ancient capital, providing fascinating insights into the temples and ruins. She also shared cultural anecdotes that made the historical landmarks come alive. The tour was well-paced, allowing enough time for exploration and photography. The guide’s passion for Ayutthaya’s history truly enhanced the experience, making it both educational and enjoyable. Highly recommended for history buffs and culture lovers! Nok would take a lot of pictures of myself, since I couldn’t do it solo, and promptly sent them to me via Messenger. Also, her English is impeccable. Very easy to communicate with, which is very difficult to do sometimes in Thailand. I would easily give her a five star review.

Amazing tour of Ayutthaya.

We had an amazing tour with Katie yesterday to Ayatthua. She picked us up at our hotel, drove us to some amazing places, and shared information about each of the places we visited. She listened to what we wanted to see and was able to customize our tour for us. Katie went well beyond what we expected and we highly recommend her!
