This tour delves into the notorious Five Points neighborhood, and the 1st through 6th Wards. We will recount tales of gang leaders like Bill the Butcher and Boss Tweed, the corrupt politician. You’ll explore historic landmarks such as the site of the Old Brewery, and the remnants of the Tombs prison. We will not only unveil the dark history of gang violence and political corruption but also provide a captivating glimpse into the social struggles and resilience of New York’s early inhabitants. A compelling way to experience the city’s turbulent past.

We will make several stops in the South Street Seaport where your guide will tell stories of the River Pirates of the East and Hudson Rivers circa early 1800s

History of Lower Manhattan Brought to Life

Ramona was a fantastic guide and super knowledgeable! Despite most of the buildings being lost to history, she still brought the past to life in a very engaging and informative way. I highly recommend this tour, or any other Tommy’s New York tours.
