For a transplanted American, Jake has a very deep knowledge and history of the area. We booked an all day walking tour with Jake and it could not have gone better. Due to Jake's knowledge, the tour can be customizable on-the-fly. Right off the bat we made introductions and had a brief conversation about what we liked, didn't like and things we thought we would want to see. We ended up starting at St. Jakob because it was close to the apartment and then worked our way all through Partenkirchen and Garmisch.
Jake was willing to stop anywhere, answer any questions, and was extremely personable with the four of us. He enquired about where to have lunch and was also willing to stop and get a coffee when we wanted it. Being a very small group, and a walking tour, he was able to take us into some very hidden little nooks and crannies of the city as we walked around. We enjoyed churches, a gasthaus for lunch (and the story of how the city came to be), ideas for shopping the next day, as well as a couple of really great recommendations for dinner and breakfast the next day.
We certainly enjoyed the trip, learned a lot of history, and I even came away with a few books to hunt up and read based on our conversation throughout the day.
