Overview

The geothermal energy exhibition provides an amazing opportunity for guests to learn more about how the famous Icelandic sustainable energy is produced. Guests will also learn about our partnership with Carbfix, one of the leading solutions for the climate crisis through CO2 storage. The power plant is one of the largest single-site geothermal plants in the world, and is located in a beautiful area surrounded by mountains and lava. There are several locations inside the exhibition for visitors to view stunning Icelandic landscapes year-round while enjoying a cup of coffee or other light refreshments (available to purchase on-site). This is a perfect first stop along the route to the southern region of the country, and there are excellent hiking paths nearby. This entry ticket is for a self-guided audio tour, available as an app to download onto your smart phone. Please note: the start time you select has flexibility, so if you need to adjust the time please contact us after booking.

My husband has wanted to see this for many years. So we did a self drive on Golden circle in order to stop here. It was very informative & interesting. Highly recommend. We learned that this is a process in order to get the power & heating. More complicated than I had imagined. Iceland does a great job of using their natural resources.

Very informative. Recommend getting the headsets-no extra cost- as you will get more detailed information than the displays alone. Took us about an hour to do.

We went to the Geothermal Exhibition at Hellisheidi Power Plant at the end of April. It's really easy to get to and there is loads of parking. The exhibit itself has a great mix of geology and engineering and the information is communicated at an effective level for the average tourist and the seasoned professional! The infographics and displays are very cleverly put together and the whole thing doesn't take too long to get round so you don't get over saturated. The staff were very welcoming, extremely knowledgeable and answered all our questions. If you are passing, definitely give it a visit!
