In this 9.5 hours tour you will be able to visit the rock, to walk around the pictoresque Guatape town and learn its history with our certified bilingual tour guides. And last but not least the paragliding flight will be an unforgettable experience since you will be flying over mountains, rivers and towns. The green color of the mountains is so vivid that together with a 90 meters (295 ft) beautiful waterfall make you feel that you are flying over a paradise. Please be aware our Paragliding site is not located in Guatape but in the way to Guatape (half-way from Medellin to Guatape), We provide pick up and drop off in any neighborhood in El Poblado and Laureles District or at the international airport Jose Maria Cordova. We cannot provide pick up ... in Guatape or anywhere close to Guatape for this tour however we can drop you off in Guatape after the tour is finished if that's what you need. We pick up travelers anywhere as long as it is in El Poblado, Laureles. If your place is not listed please don't worry just enter the name of the hotel/building or the address manually and we'll be there. Read more â–¼

Itinerary

  • Guatape

    After we pick you up at your place the drive to the paragliding spot is a bit more than an hour in an enjoyable drive through the mountains. We accompany you throughout the whole process such as help you with the insurance registration, keeping your belongings safe and taking the best photos of you during take off, flying and landing. We do this activity with certified and experienced local pilots that provide safe and fun flights using the safest equipments. The pilot will give you the instructions to take off and what to do in the air. This paragliding flight will be an unforgettable experience since you will be flying over mountains, rivers and towns. The green color of the mountains is so vivid that together with a 90 meters (295 ft) beautiful waterfall make you feel that you are flying over a paradise. The flight lasts around 15 minutes depending on weather conditions and the altittude is close to 5000ft (1550 mts). After this adventure, ready to climb up an impressive rock?

  • Piedra Del Penol

    The drive from the paragliding to the rock is around 1 hour but is full of beautiful sceneries of kale plantations, onion, sugar cane, coffee, and dozens of mountains silhouettes. As we drive we start telling you all the history of the rock: components, owners, when it was climbed and more interesting facts about this mysterious monolith. Once we get there you get the chance to climb it up. It’s 749 steps and 50 minutes approximately to go up and down. Once you reach the top, you can stay up there for as long as you wish as you witness one of the most beautiful views you have ever seen. This is not only our opinion but that of thousands of tourists we have taken there. At the top there are several shops where you can buy water, beer and many other items and sit down to appreciate the view of the lake, tiny islands and country houses Whenever you feel ready to start going down we'll be ready waiting for you to continue our adventure to one of the most colorful towns in the country

  • Guatape

    The drive to Guatape from the rock is only 10 to 15 minutes. At this town we take a fully narrated walking tour through the town's landmarks such as the church, main square, remembrance street, Zocalos Square and more. Once the walking tour has concluded we take you to the best restaurant in town to have a traditional delicious lunch (not included in the tour) where you have more than 20 different options to try the local cuisine accompanied by a cold sangria or a craft beer. After we have seen all the beautiful places this town has to offer we start our journey back to Medellin, with a smile in your face and full of good memories and photos. All in all, you should not miss out this Guatape and Paragliding tour, it allows you to enjoy the beauty of this region in a different and fun way.

Daniel, our guide, was great. He picked us up on time and off we went to paraglide. The weather wasn't looking too good, so he checked with the gliding company who suggested we try later. So Daniel rearranged the trip and off we went to Guatape and Pernol. Just as we started to climb the mountain, it started to sprinkle, but we were determined. Daniel waited for us at a coffee shop, and off we went to Guatape. He suggested several lunch places, and after lunch took us on a nice walking tour around the city. Luckily the rain had stopped before lunch, so we stayed dry the rest of the day. Then off we went to paraglide. Again, the weather was iffy, but Daniel was persistent in contacting the gliding company to confirm. It was still overcast, but we floated above the mountains and viewed two waterfalls before touching down in a small town. We were whisked back up the mountain to the starting point to reconnect with Daniel and then returned to Medellin. It wasn't the prettiest day, but between Daniel's tour information, his taking pictures of us, and his being persistent so that we would have a memorable day, we had a blast.

It was an absolutely wonderful day with our tour guide Erika! Our family of 4 enjoyed the whole day with Erika educating us about the history of Guatape, the Penol and was in constant touch with the Paragliding team to make sure the weather was ok for us to paraglide and she made sure all of us were comfortable and stopped when needed for breaks. Would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting the region!!
