This tour was a highlight of our trip. Melissa, our tour guide, was phenomenal. She was so knowledgeable about the island, the history, the people and the surrounding landscape. She had our best interests in mind and truly cared about what we wanted to see and do. She was so friendly and so much fun to be around. Her laidback spirit, views on life and kindness were infectious. This private tour (in a luxury SUV) was perfect for our family of 4 adults who wanted to see and experience the Road to Hana, but did not want to be stuck in a big tour bus with lots of strangers going to all the crowded tourist spots with the other tour buses on a very regimented schedule. With Experience Hawaii we picked the spots/things we wanted to see and do and choose how long or short we stayed at each location. Melissa was a very cautious driver who knew the road and the local ins and outs of road etiquette that made the drive very relaxing. We chose the half day experience and the length of time we were gone was just right (about 5 1/2 hours). It allowed us to still have most of the afternoon on the beach after we returned back to our hotel. We chose to be picked up and dropped off at our hotel. You can also choose to meet the tour guide at a location closer to the Road to Hana to save more time for your tour. However, we found talking with Melissa on that extra driving time to and from our hotel just added to the total experience. Thank you again for helping to make our trip to Maui so perfect.

Colby was our tour guide, very knowledgeable about the history of Maui. We only did a half day tour, but got to see a lot of sites. Colby even took group photos for us and even had a champagne toast for one of our friends who had a birthday that week.

I was in Oahu for a work trip with a project team of 10 folks and we realized that we wanted to get away for the weekend and explore some of the other islands. It was pretty last minute as the weekend was fast approaching, and we were limited to just a day trip, because we were in Oahu for work and had deadlines to get back to. My brother kept telling me to go to Maui and do the Road to Hana, but I figured that wouldn’t be possible for a day trip, however I figured why not, I can ask. I contacted a bunch of places through TripAdvisor, and resoundingly I was told No, it was too last minute and that a day was not enough time. Only two places responded and said hey let’s work this out! And of the two Experience Hawaii was the most responsive and kind. Michelle answered alll of my many questions and created a custom itinerary for us, where they’d pick us up from the airport, get us started right away, and do a drop off back at the airport. It was amazing. They also packed towels, cold water, snacks, and included plenty of stops for us to get a feel for the many shops and activities along the road to Hana. And incredibly they included beach time for us- I don’t understand that level of time management, but was I was so thankful. It led to an incredibly experience that brought our team together and one we talk about often. Also, they took us Audi’s which made for a wonderful luxurious experience. Our guides were Matt and Scotty, and I really hope to recommend them to friends and family and return and do a longer tour with them! On top of that, Matt and Scott took such great pictures of our group!

Chris was an amazing tour guide! Not only did he show us amazing views and secret spots but he told us about plants and vegetation, showed us what you could eat to survive and thrive and had so many amazing stories and details! I loved how much he loved and appreciated this beautiful island!

We had a great time. Our guide, Charlie was chill and showed us all the cool spots along the way that we would have never found. If we had driven it ourselves, one person would be focused on the road and missed the great views. Highly recommend getting a guide. And would definitely recommend Experience Hawaii.
