Your driver-guide will share fascinating insights as we navigate one of Britain’s steepest mountain roads. Then, prepare for the legendary Hardknott Pass, another of Britain’s most challenging roads. Along the route, you’ll pass Hardknott Roman Fort, perched 1,000 feet up on the fells. After descending into the Eskdale Valley, you’ll arrive at Muncaster Castle, where a delicious lunch awaits. Enjoy the castle’s magnificent grounds and historic charm, adding a special touch to your day. The afternoon takes you to Wast Water in Wasdale Valley, renowned as “Britain’s Favourite View.” Framed by peaks including Scafell Pike, Red Pike, and Great Gable, Wast Water is England’s deepest lake, known for its striking beauty and dramatic atmosphere.

Amazing tour visiting great landmarks.

Very well organised tour visiting lots of great places throughout the Western Lakes. Great tour guide/ driver Tony who gave lots of info about the sites we visited. Great lunch stop at a local pub and lovely trip on the railway. Definitely would recommend these tours to anyone.

The knowledge, experience and humor of our outstanding driver:guide, Tony! What I liked best is that he didn’t need to talk excessively the whole 8 hours but when we passed points of interests and stops and always answered our questions. Amazing countryside vistas

Had a fab day. Mark P our driver and guide was so helpful and knowledgeable. Views were fantastic and went along roads would never hsve attempted myself. Would recommend going on a trip with Mountain Goat.

Just returned from a fabulous full day on the high adventure tour. Tony our driver was amazing. Great careful driver up very steep hills/mountains, knowledgeable about the area and very patient with me who was full of questions! A credit to your company. Give the man a raise! Lol. Will definitely book with you again. Great value for money too.

The High Adventure - Western Lakes

This was the third Mountain Goat Trip that my husband and I took on our two week holiday to the Lake District and it did not disappoint. This time we went on the High Adventure which covered the less busy Western area of the lakes. I was a bit dubious about booking because I am bit nervous with scarey roads but I need not have worried. Our driver, Tony, was so calm and reassuring and he was such an experienced, careful driver that he set my mind at rest. It was a wonderful opportunity to see this area as it is not possible to access it by buses and Tony told us lots of information along the way about the various locations. We made lots of stops to expolore and stretch our legs and it really was an enjoyable day. We saw so much and the scenery was magnificent.
